Rocker accused of pharmacy robbery before show (AP)

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The bass player for a rock band has been arrested and charged with robbing a Massachusetts pharmacy of prescription painkillers just hours before a show.

Attleboro police say Michael Todd, bassist for Coheed and Cambria, entered the Walgreen's pharmacy after 1 p.m. on Sunday and showed the pharmacist a note on his phone saying he had a bomb.

Police say the 30-year-old Todd, of Anaheim, Calif., then made off with six bottles of Oxycontin and fled in a cab headed to the Comcast Center in Mansfield, where his band was to open for Soundgarden that night. He was arrested at the concert hall before the show, and the band played without him.

He's scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Attleboro District Court.

The band's website says the tour will continue.

Liz Taylor jewels taking world tour before NY sale (AP)

NEW YORK – Elizabeth Taylor's prized collection of jewelry, art, designer clothing and other memorabilia will go on an international three-month tour before it is sold in New York in December, Christie's auction house announced Wednesday.

The tour will begin in September and include stops in Moscow, London, Dubai, Geneva, Paris, Hong Kong and Los Angeles. It will end in New York, where Christie's plans a "museum-quality exhibition" of the late actress' collection that will fill its entire gallery space Dec. 3-10. The auction will be held Dec. 13-16.

Taylor, who was infamously married eight times to seven husbands and remembered for her roles in "Cleopatra" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?," was also known for her passion for opulent diamonds. She died in March at age 79.

She published a book in 2003 titled "Elizabeth Taylor: My Love Affair with Jewelry," and her collection has included some of the world's most expensive stones.

A portion of the proceeds from the exhibition admissions and publications related to the sales will be donated to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.

The screen icon's impressionist and modern art collection will be sold February at Christie's in London and will include a group of works she inherited from her father, art dealer Francis Taylor, Christie's said.

The auction house said details of the sales, exhibitions and tour dates would be announced in the fall. But it said Taylor's magnificent jewelry by some of the world's top design houses will range from white diamonds to elaborate custom-designed jewels. They will be sold in three sessions Dec. 13-14.

Some of the biggest names in fashion, including Valentino, Gianni Versace and Gianfranco Ferre, designed the star's haute couture and ready-to-wear fashion. Classic "Elizabeth Taylor looks" will be offered in an evening sale on Dec. 14, followed by three sessions of fashion, handbags, shoes, accessories and fine luggage the following day.

Film memorabilia from Taylor's Bel Air home, furniture and 20th-century decorative arts will be offered Dec. 16.

Christie's first announced it was selling the actress' collection in April after an agreement with her family. At the time, it didn't release any details.

Taylor won three Academy Awards, including a special Oscar for her advocacy for AIDS research and other causes.

She also won an Oscar for her performance in "Virginia Woolf" in which she played an alcoholic shrew in an emotionally sadomasochistic marriage opposite Richard Burton, whom she married twice in real life.

Songwriter dies before NYC trial on sex charges (AP)

NEW YORK – The Academy Award-winning songwriter of "You Light Up My Life" was found dead of an apparent suicide while awaiting trial on charges of sexually assaulting more than a dozen women and just months after his son was accused of murdering a swimsuit designer.

Joseph Brooks, 73, was discovered Sunday afternoon on his living room couch with a plastic dry-cleaning bag around his head and a towel around his neck, police spokesman Paul Browne said. A hose attached to a helium tank was hooked up to the bag, and the door to Brooks' Upper East Side apartment was ajar, he said.

The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine Brooks' cause of death. A three-page suicide note included complaints about his health, police said.

Brooks suffered a stroke in 2008, and his lawyer had said the songwriter's health was deteriorating during the court case. He appeared gaunt and shuffled slowly as he came to recent court dates.

Brooks was awaiting trial on allegations that he lured women to his apartment through an online ad offering auditions for a movie role, then sexually assaulted them after making them drink apparently drugged wine as part of an "acting exercise." He pleaded not guilty in 2009, and his court date had not yet been set.

Brooks' lawyer and Manhattan prosecutors had no immediate comment about Brooks' death.

Brooks won the Academy Award for best original song for the 1977 Debby Boone ballad "You Light Up My Life" and directed a movie of the same name about a comedian who had a one-night stand with a director. Brooks also won a Grammy for the song.

Brooks' son, Nicholas, is charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend, Peruvian-American swimsuit designer Sylvie Cachay. She was found dead, half-clothed and face-up, in a tub at the swanky Soho House after water began leaking through to the floor below.

The 24-year-old Brooks had little contact with his father in recent years, authorities have said.

Nicholas Brooks has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail at the Rikers Island jail complex.

Hailee Steinfeld: Before She Was Oscar-Nominated

A job is a job, right?

That much is true for many actors when they are just beginning their careers, and the same can be said for Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld. The 'True Grit' star received an Academy Award nomination yesterday for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Mattie Ross in the Coen brothers' latest film. But not everyone can burst onto the scene without a few jobs they would probably rather the public didn't see.

We were curious how this young star got her start, so we did some searching and found her first acting job: a commercial for Kmart's back-to-school campaign. It doesn't seem like this commercial aired all that long ago, and we think she is True-ly adorable! Check it out after the jump!

Katy Perry puts Russell Brand before her career

Obviously if you were married to the hairy hunk that is Rusty B, you too would be making him a priority. So it’s no wonder Katy Perry has felt the need to shout about her love and dedication for her man. Goodness knows we would if we were her.

Talking about her happy relationship with the Arthur actor, K-Pez said,

Katie Waissel sports dodgy wig before X Factor show

If interest in your career is severely dwindling, you didn't win The X Factor and you find out your nan's a prozzy, take advice from Katie Waissel and just get a new barnet!
The raspy-voiced X Factor finalist was spotted in Cardiff for the latest leg of the live tour but she was wearing a rather dodgy looking and badly cut brunette wig. The hair changes this girl has gone through in the past year is starting to make us believe that her management might actually be Supercuts.
When Katie first appeared on The X Factor she sported a short bleach blonde do', it seems as though she's tried to reinvent herself so that the public might warm to her. The general public seemed to take a disliking to Katie when she appeared on the show, however when asked about the public's reaction recently Katie said she was very hurt at the time but is glad for the support of her fans 'Waissel's Warriors' to get her through.
We're still baffled by the wig and have come up with a few explanations for such a style choice:
Cher Lloyd's sheer amount of swag renders people nearby bald.
Hair loss from constant preening and dyeing
Katie's head had a run in with ex-X Factor contestant Diana Vickers 's claw
She's just gone a bit mental

Probably the latter. No doubt by the time we've come to a conclusion she'll be wearing a Mrs Doubtfire wig or it'll all be shaved off and she'll be carrying it around in a see-through bag.
