By SAMANTHA CRITCHELL, AP Fashion Writer Samantha Critchell, Ap Fashion Writer – Tue Aug 16, 7:17 am ET

NEW YORK – Christmas is getting a makeover — Lady Gaga style: The singer and her team are going to reinterpret Santa's workshop and put it on display at Barneys.

She'll get an entire floor and take over the coveted windows starting in mid-November at the retailer's flagship Madison Avenue store, Mark Lee, Barneys CEO, announced Monday. There will also be a collection of Gaga's Workshop gift items that will raise money for a charity of her choice.

Campaign visuals, including a cartoon rendering of Gaga with long blue hair and a sparkly red jumpsuit, will be used to decorate shopping bags and other packaging, and will be featured on the company's website.

Barneys' typically nontraditional windows are a popular stop for holiday shoppers.

Liz Taylor jewels taking world tour before NY sale (AP)

NEW YORK – Elizabeth Taylor's prized collection of jewelry, art, designer clothing and other memorabilia will go on an international three-month tour before it is sold in New York in December, Christie's auction house announced Wednesday.

The tour will begin in September and include stops in Moscow, London, Dubai, Geneva, Paris, Hong Kong and Los Angeles. It will end in New York, where Christie's plans a "museum-quality exhibition" of the late actress' collection that will fill its entire gallery space Dec. 3-10. The auction will be held Dec. 13-16.

Taylor, who was infamously married eight times to seven husbands and remembered for her roles in "Cleopatra" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?," was also known for her passion for opulent diamonds. She died in March at age 79.

She published a book in 2003 titled "Elizabeth Taylor: My Love Affair with Jewelry," and her collection has included some of the world's most expensive stones.

A portion of the proceeds from the exhibition admissions and publications related to the sales will be donated to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.

The screen icon's impressionist and modern art collection will be sold February at Christie's in London and will include a group of works she inherited from her father, art dealer Francis Taylor, Christie's said.

The auction house said details of the sales, exhibitions and tour dates would be announced in the fall. But it said Taylor's magnificent jewelry by some of the world's top design houses will range from white diamonds to elaborate custom-designed jewels. They will be sold in three sessions Dec. 13-14.

Some of the biggest names in fashion, including Valentino, Gianni Versace and Gianfranco Ferre, designed the star's haute couture and ready-to-wear fashion. Classic "Elizabeth Taylor looks" will be offered in an evening sale on Dec. 14, followed by three sessions of fashion, handbags, shoes, accessories and fine luggage the following day.

Film memorabilia from Taylor's Bel Air home, furniture and 20th-century decorative arts will be offered Dec. 16.

Christie's first announced it was selling the actress' collection in April after an agreement with her family. At the time, it didn't release any details.

Taylor won three Academy Awards, including a special Oscar for her advocacy for AIDS research and other causes.

She also won an Oscar for her performance in "Virginia Woolf" in which she played an alcoholic shrew in an emotionally sadomasochistic marriage opposite Richard Burton, whom she married twice in real life.

Crowe plays starring role in taking NRL to United States (Reuters)

SYDNEY (Reuters) – Actor Russell Crowe has helped broker a deal to broadcast Australia's most fiercely contested rugby league series, the State of Origin, to the United States, the National Rugby League (NRL) said on Wednesday.

Oscar winner Crowe, who owns NRL club South Sydney Rabittohs, was instrumental in putting together a deal to show the three-match series between New South Wales and Queensland on Fox Sports, the league said.

The run-up to the State of Origin series, which starts in Brisbane on Wednesday, has consumed Australia's East Coast media for the last two weeks with blanket coverage in newspapers and television.

Rugby league is the most popular winter sport code in New South Wales and Queensland, although it has struggled to gain a foothold outside its Australian and English heartlands.

An extra State of Origin game was played in California in 1987 to try and sell the sport to Americans.

The NRL said the new broadcast deal would also see the NRL Grand Final broadcast in the U.S.

"This new United States agreement significantly adds to the mainstream exposure of two of our biggest events," NRL chief David Gallop told the league's website (www.nrl.com.au).

"It sees more than 40 million homes across the United States now able to experience live the passion and rivalry of the 2011... State of Origin Series and the... Premiership Grand Final."

Queensland have won every series since 2006 with the state's flag subsequently flying over Sydney Bridge as a result of a wager between local government heads.

Roger Daltrey taking "Tommy" on North American tour (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – "The Who" frontman Roger Daltrey is taking the British band's 1969 rock opera "Tommy" on a six-week North American tour beginning in September, concert promoters said on Thursday.

Daltrey, 67, will perform the album in its entirety, using visuals to accompany classic songs like "Pinball Wizard," "See Me, Feel Me" and "The Acid Queen."

His bandmate Pete Townshend, who wrote the music and lyrics to the tale of the "deaf, dumb and blind boy" who becomes a messiah, has given Daltrey his blessing but will not be taking part.

"I will be there in spirit. Roger has my complete and most loving support," Townshend said in a statement.

The tour of the United States and Canada kicks off in Hollywood, Fla., on September 13 and follows Daltrey's performance of the album in London in March.

"Tommy" is considered the first rock opera, and was turned into a movie, in which Daltrey played the title role, and a Tony Award-winning stage show.

The double album has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998.
