Winehouse album sets UK chart record after death (Reuters)

LONDON (Reuters) – The late Amy Winehouse's acclaimed second and final album "Back to Black" has become the UK's biggest seller of the 21st century, according to data from the Official Charts Company.

The company said the 2006 record, which included such hits as "Rehab," "Back to Black" and "Love Is a Losing Game" and netted Winehouse five Grammys, had sold 3.26 million copies, surpassing James Blunt's "Back to Bedlam" (3.25 million).

Winehouse's album shot back to the top of the British charts following her death aged 27 on July 23.

Dido's "No Angel" -- released in the UK in February 2001 -- is the third best-selling album of the century with sales of 3.07 million in the UK.

Nero knocks Amy Winehouse off top of UK album chart (Reuters)

LONDON (Reuters) – The late soul singer Amy Winehouse, whose album "Back to Black" spent three weeks at number one on the UK charts after her unexpected death last month, lost the top spot to the debut album from dance music act Nero on Sunday.

Nero's dubstep-influenced album "Welcome Reality" also overtook chart staple Adele's "21", which held the second spot, pushing Winehouse's "Back to Black" to number three, the Official UK Charts Company said. U.S. rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West slipped to fourth place with "Watch the Throne".

Former Busted and Fightstar band member Charlie Simpson's solo debut "Young Pilgrim", and "The Ultimate Collection" from country singer John Denver were the only new entries apart from Nero's in the album top 20.

On the singles chart, Nero was unable to sustain last week's number one spot for "Promises," slipping to number five. The top three positions were all taken by new entries. London rapper Wretch 32 achieved his first UK number one with "Don't Go," featuring singer-songwriter Josh Kumra.

In second place was Scottish soul singer Emeli Sande's debut solo single, "Heaven", while U.S. band Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" featuring Christina Aguilera was the third new entry.

Amy Winehouse tops UK albums chart after death (Reuters)

LONDON (Reuters) – "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse shot back to the top of the British albums chart Sunday, a week after the troubled singer died at the age of 27.

Winehouse, famous for her distinctive soul songs and beehive hairdo, struggled with drinking and drug problems throughout much of her career. The cause of her death has not yet been determined as officials await results of toxicology tests.

Sales of the singer's recordings, released by the Universal Music label, rocketed following news that she had been found dead at her London home on July 23. That propelled her album "Back to Black" up from last week's 59th position, the Official Charts Company said.

The album was released in 2006, reaching the number one spot in Britain at the time and winning five Grammy awards, pop music's equivalent of the Oscars.

It also produced a string of memorable tunes, including "You Know I'm No Good," "Love Is a Losing Game" and "Rehab," which contained the line: "They tried to make me go to rehab. I said 'no, no, no'."

The renewed popularity of the album pushed "21" by queen of the charts Adele to the second place.

Winehouse earned two more spots in the top 10 of best-selling albums. Her debut release "Frank" came in fifth, proving more successful after her death than in her lifetime as the album had previously peaked at number 13.

The box set incorporating "Frank" and "Back to Black" reached the 10th position.

The singer's death also ruffled the singles chart, with five of her tracks entering the top 40, including the "Back to Black" single at number eight. The best-selling song of the week was a new entry, "She Makes Me Wanna" by British boy band JLS.

U.S. music fans also honored Winehouse by snapping up 50,000 copies of her CDs in the week ended July 24, compared with 44,000 units that were purchased in all other weeks of 2011, record sales tracker Nielsen SoundScan said Tuesday.

The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported last week that material recorded before Winehouse's death could be released as a posthumous album.

They cited sources who said Winehouse had recorded "a lot of material" and that her parents would have the final say on whether a new album was to be released.

Winehouse's spokesman told Reuters there was no news about the release of a third album. "I know there's material about, but no one's talked about it," he said.

R&B singer Jason Derulo tops UK singles chart (Reuters)

LONDON (Reuters) – Miami R&B singer/songwriter Jason Derulo went straight to No. 1 on the UK singles chart, while Lady Gaga reclaimed the albums chart crown, the Official Charts company said on Sunday.

Derulo, 21, who started out as a songwriter for other big-name acts, scored on his account with "Don't Wanna Go Home," a tune from his upcoming second album "Future History." British singer Example's "Changed the Way you Kiss Me" slipped to No. 2.

Lady Gaga's "Born this Way" returned to No. 1 on the albums chart for a second spell after spending the past two weeks at No. 3.

"Book of Mormon" is number 3 on album chart (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) – The original Broadway cast recording of "The Book of Mormon" comes roaring in at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

It re-enters with 61,000 sold (up 2,116%) following the show's nine Tony Award wins, including best musical, on June 12. It's the highest-charting Broadway cast album-and first top 10-since 1969, when "Hair" spent 13 straight weeks at No. 1.

"Mormon" (Ghostlight Records, distributed by Sony) also owns the largest sales week for any cast album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991.

The previous best sales week for a cast set belonged to the original London cast recording of "Phantom of the Opera" (Highlights), which sold 54,000 during Christmas week of 1992.

The set's eye-popping sales were bolstered by Amazon MP3's multi-day sale-pricing of the digital album. The retailer offered it at $1.99 for three days during the sales tracking week that ended on June 12. Amazon MP3 tweeted and promoted the set almost daily from midnight on Thursday through Sunday evening. The theatrical production's Twitter account (@bookofmormonbwy) tweeted about the deal 10 times during the tracking week as well.

Additionally, Amazon ran a TV commercial during the Tony telecast, touting its $1.99 deal. In turn, of the album's 61,000 haul, downloads account for 85% of the total. Executives at Ghostlight and Sony didn't respond to requests for comment on the Amazon MP3 deal, though sources say Ghostlight worked with Amazon by giving it a pricing discount to help its promotion of the set.

Amazon's "Mormon" deal follows its controversial move to sell Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" for 99 cents on two days during its release week. The difference here is that Gaga's label (Interscope) and distributor (Universal Music) quickly distanced themselves from the deal and said the retailer acted alone in its decision to sell and promote the set for such a low price.

"Mormon"-with music and lyrics by "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and "Avenue Q" co-writer Robert Lopez-opened March 24 at Broadway's Eugene O'Neill Theater. Ads touting the cast album have been running during "South Park" episodes on Comedy Central, while Parker and Stone have promoted the show on NBC's "Today" and "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart."

The musical's nine Tony wins included best direction, featured actress (Nikki M. James) and score.

Eminem collaboration aiming to top U.S. chart (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) – Eminem has a good shot at taking the top spot on the U.S. pop album chart next week, although an 11-year-old talent show contestant could steal his thunder.

While it's still early in the sales week, the hip-hop star could sell about 150,000 copies of "Hell: the Sequel," his collaboration with Royce da 5'9" under the Bad Meets Evil moniker. The sales week ends Sunday evening.

Aiming for the runner-up slot -- or perhaps No. 1 if things really go her way -- is Jackie Evancho with her full-length major-label debut "Dream With Me." The young soprano, who finished in second place last year on "America's Got Talent," recruited Barbra Streisand and Susan Boyle for "Dream." It could sell around 140,000 copies.

After 10 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1, Adele's "21" might slip to No. 3. Owl City's "All Things Bright and Beautiful" which should enter in the top five. Also likely heading for a top 10 debut is Ledisi's new set "Pieces of Me."

Sales data will be issued on Wednesday. Adele sold 114,000 copies of "21" during the week ended June 12.

Tony glory propels "Mormon" to No. 3 on album chart (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) – Adele returned to the top spot on the U.S. pop album for a 10th nonconsecutive week on Wednesday, bumping Lady Gaga to No. 2 after a two-week reign.

But the real news was the stunning re-entry at No. 3 of the original Broadway cast recording of "The Book of Mormon" on the heels of the show's nine Tony Award wins on Sunday.

It is the highest-charting Broadway cast album -- and first top 10 -- since 1969, when "Hair" spent 13 weeks at No. 1.

And, with sales of 61,000 units, "Mormon" claims the largest sales week for any cast album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991. The previous best week for a cast set belonged to the original London cast recording of "Phantom of the Opera" (Highlights), which sold 54,000 copies during the Christmas week of 1992.

"The Book of Mormon" debuted at No. 31 on the Billboard 200 three weeks ago after selling 13,000 copies as a digital download, fell to No. 124 the following week and then dropped off the chart. The CD came out last Tuesday, just in time to capitalize on its Tony Awards momentum: It went into the June 12 ceremony with a leading 14 nominations.

Sales were doubtless spurred on by AmazonMP3's multi-day sale-pricing of the digital album. The retailer offered it at just $1.99 for three days during the sales tracking week that ended on Sunday night.

The show -- with music and lyrics by "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and "Avenue Q" co-writer Robert Lopez -- opened March 24 at the Eugene O'Neill Theater. Ads touting the cast album have been running during airings of "South Park" on Comedy Central, while Parker and Stone have chatted up the show on everything from NBC's "Today" to "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart." The nine Tony wins for "Mormon" included best musical, direction, featured actress (Nikki M. James) and score.

Meanwhile, Adele's "21" sold 114,000 copies and Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" 100,000 copies.

Rapper Tech N9ne's "All 6's & 7's" debuted at No. 4 with 56,000, his first top 10 album and best sales week. Ronnie Dunn, one-half of retired country combo Brooks & Dunn, came in at No. 5 with his self-titled debut (45,000).

Rock band All Time Low's "Dirty Work" debuted at No. 6 with 44,000. Its last studio release, 2009's "Nothing Personal," arrived at No. 4 with 63,000.

Jason Aldean's "My Kind of Party" rose one to No. 7 with 41,000. Fellow country star Brad Paisley's "This Is Country Music" dropped two to No. 8 with 38,000. The "Now 38" compilation fell two to No. 9 (31,000), and Death Cab for Cutie's "Codes and Keys" slid seven to No. 10.

Overall album sales totaled 5.51 million units, down less than 1% compared with the previous week, and down 2% compared with the comparable sales week of 2010. Year-to-date album sales stand at 136.9 million, up less than 1% compared with the same total at this point last year.

Lady Gaga leads U.S. pop chart despite sales slide (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) – Lady Gaga led the U.S. pop album chart for a second week on Wednesday, but inevitably suffered a mammoth sales drop since her opening round was boosted by Amazon.com's 99 cent promotion.

"Born The Way" sold 174,000 copies during the week ended June 5, according to Nielsen SoundScan -- off 84 percent from her spectacular first-week tally of 1.1 million copies. Late last week, prognosticators had forecast a second round of about 200,000 copies.

The album's first week tally -- the biggest in six years -- was unusually bolstered by likely hundreds of thousands of sales generated by AmazonMP3's decision to sell the digital version of the set for 99 cents on two separate days.

At any rate, it's not unusual for big albums to suffer second-week slides. Last week's No. 2 entry, Brad Paisley's "This Is Country Music" saw sales fall 65 percent to 53,000 as the album fell four places to No. 6.

Given Gaga's decline, Adele's "21" will likely reclaim its throne next week for a 10th nonconsecutive week. The English pop singer rebounded one place to No. 2 with 121,000 units -- down just 4%.

Adele's set has yet to leave the top three positions of the chart since its debut 15 weeks ago. It's still too early to tell how either Adele or Gaga will sell this week.

The top debut belonged to Death Cab for Cutie's "Codes and Keys," which started at No. 3 with 102,000. It's the follow-up to the band's No. 1 2008 album "Narrow Stairs," which sold 144,000 upon its debut.

Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder arrived at No. 4 after selling 71,000 copies of his bare-bones "Ukulele Songs" solo outing. He previously charted on his own with the "Into the Wild" soundtrack, which debuted and peaked at No. 11 in 2007 with a 39,000 start.

Rock band My Morning Jacket's "Circuital" bowed at No. 5 with 55,000. It's the best sales week and highest-charting set for the group, whose previous high-water mark came with the bow of "Evil Urges" at No. 9 with 49,000 three years ago.

The final debut in the top 10 came courtesy of Flogging Molly's "Speed of Darkness," launching at No. 9 with 25,000. Its last studio release, 2008's "Float," debuted and peaked at No. 4 with 48,000.

As for the rest of the top 10, "Now 38" slipped one to No. 7 (39,000), Jason Aldean's "My Kinda Party" rose one to No. 8 (33,000) and "Glee, the Music: Season Two, Volume Six" dropped six to No. 10 (25,000).

Overall album sales totaled 5.5 million units, down 17% from the previous week and up 7% compared with the comparable sales week of 2010 (5.2 million). Year-to-date album sales stand at 131.4 million, up 1% compared with the same total at this point last year.

Next week's top debuts will come from Tech N9ne's "All 6's & 7's," All Time Low's "Dirty Work" and country veteran Ronnie Dunn's self-titled solo debut. Industry sources suggest the former two might sell around 50,000 copies by week's end on June 12, while Dunn could shift 45,000 or so.

Other albums looking for a possible top 20 entry are Arctic Monkeys' "Suck It And See" and Def Leppard's "Mirrorball."

Lady Gaga set to remain queen of U.S. album chart (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) – Lady Gaga will almost certainly spend a second week at No. 1 on the U.S. pop chart next week after scoring a spectacular 1.11 million-unit opening round.

While it's too early to gauge exactly how many copies "Born This Way" will move during the week through Sunday, estimates suggest it could sell around 200,000 copies.

While that would represent a staggering percentage drop, it's not unusual to see albums that are heavily front-loaded in terms of first-week sales fall off a cliff in their second week. The opening round for "Born This Way" was also inflated by a 99-cent promotional offer on Amazon.com.

The top debut next week will come from Death Cab For Cutie's latest set, "Codes and Keys," which could shift perhaps 90,000 copies. And Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder's second solo album, "Ukulele Songs," may start with 60,000. Both sets are aiming for a launch in the top five of the Billboard 200.

Also driving toward the top 10 are My Morning Jacket's "Circuital" and Flogging Molly's "Speed of Darkness." Sales data will be published on Wednesday.

Adele leads singles chart as "Idol" stars debut (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Billboard) – Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" scored a fourth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart Thursday, while this year's "American Idol" champion and runner-up roared in with top 20 debuts.

Scotty McCreery's victory ballad "I Love You This Big" came in at No. 11 after selling 171,000 downloads. By contrast, 2010 champion Lee DeWyze's cover of U2's "Beautiful Day" bowed at No. 24 with 95,000 downloads after he won the talent show. This season's "Idol" runner-up, Lauren Alaina, debuted at No. 20 with "Like My Mother Does," which sold 121,000 downloads.

Pitbull's "Give Me Everything," featuring Ne-Yo, AfroJack and Nayer, rose one place to No. 2 on the Hot 100, swapping places with Katy Perry's former chart-topper "E.T.," featuring Kanye West.

Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor," featuring Pitbull, was up one to No. 4, trading spots with the Black Eyed Peas' "Just Can't Get Enough."

Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song" and Britney Spears' "Till the World Ends" held at Nos. 6 and 7, respectively.

As Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" blasted in at No. 1 on the album chart with the biggest sales week since 2005, new single "The Edge of Glory" rebounded 11 places to No. 8. Two other tracks from "Born This Way" debuted on the Hot 100: "You and I" (No. 37) and "Marry the Night" (No. 79).

LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem," featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock, slipped one place to No. 9, while DJ Khaled's "I'm on One," featuring Drake, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne, rocketed 68 places to No. 10.

Pitbull has it all as song tops UK singles chart (Reuters)

LONDON (Reuters) – U.S. rapper Pitbull's song "Give Me Everything" has topped the British singles charts, the Official Charts Company said on Sunday.

The track -- the result of Pitbull's collaboration with U.S. singers Ne-Yo and Nayer and Dutch producer Afrojack -- rose from last week's fourth position and pushed "The Lazy Song" by Bruno Mars down to the second place.

Lady Gaga scored four singles in the top 40 list. Her lowest-ranked hit -- "Born This Way" from the much-hyped eponymous album due out on Monday -- came in at number 16.

New to the ranking were "Save The World" by Swedish House Mafia, at number 11, and "Hair" by Lady Gaga, at number 13.

In the albums chart, English pop singer Adele held on to the top spot with "21" for the fifth week in a row. Earlier this year, the recording topped the chart for 11 consecutive weeks before its reign was briefly broken in April.

New entrant "Director's Cut" by Kate Bush became the second-most popular album of the week.

Adele, Avenged Sevenfold climb Social 50 chart (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) – Last week, Avenged Sevenfold re-entered the Social 50 at No. 44 but now with the premiere of the band's video for "So Far Away" -- the third single off the album "Nightmare" -- on May 10, the group rises 44-37 (595,000 YouTube views).

The somber ballad serves as a tribute Avenged Sevenfold's former drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, who died in 2009.

Meanwhile, climbing 19-11, Adele matches her previous highest rank (No. 11). The singer's YouTube channel views grew 21%, which features the video for her No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 single "Rolling in the Deep."

The Social 50 ranks the most active artists on the world's leading social networking sites -- YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and iLike -- using a formula blending weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with weekly artist page views and weekly song plays.

Since debuting on the tally last week (No. 39), LMFAO continues to climb, rising 39-24. The duo's satirical video "Teach Me How To Shuffle" has quickly went from 47,000 to nearly 127,000 views.

After dropping off last week, YouTube cover artist Christina Grimmie has re-entered at No. 39. A 56% change in week-over-week YouTube views has helped bring her back. Grimmie uploaded a comical video on May 14 titled "Above All That Is Random 3," which has since gained 453,000 views. She also announced that she will be releasing a new EP on June 13.

Both David Guetta and Wiz Khalifa suffer similar tumbles this week -- falling 21-31 and 22-32. Each saw steep setbacks in fans, views, and plays across all monitored social networks and music outlets.

Back in the top 10, Lil Wayne reclaims the No. 10 slot after being knocked out last week by Deadmau5 (who falls 10-15). The former released a video (May 12) for his latest single "John," featuring Rick Ross, which has already achieved 2.7 cool million Vevo views.

Lady Gaga (No. 1), Justin Bieber (No. 2), Rihanna (No. 3), Akon (No. 6), and Katy Perry (No. 7) hold their positions, while Shakira (5-4), Eminem (4-5), and Beyonce (9-8) mix it up.

Justin Bieber documentary tops DVD sales chart (Reuters)

By T.K. Arnold T.k. Arnold – Wed May 18, 7:24 pm ET

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – DVD buyers had Bieber fever last week; Blu-ray Disc fans, not so much.

Paramount Home Entertainment topped the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart the week ending May 15 with "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never," while on the research house's dedicated Blu-ray Disc chart, Bieber debuted at No. 3, behind the month-old Warner release "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I" at No. 1 and another Paramount new release, the comedy "No Strings Attached," at No. 2.

"No Strings Attached," which grossed $70.7 million in U.S. theaters and stars Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher, also captured the top spot on Home Media Magazine's home video rental chart, giving Paramount the top disc seller and the top disc renter in the same week.

"No Strings Attached" debuted at No. 2 on the overall sales chart, while "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I" remained perched at No. 3 for the second consecutive week after three weeks at No. 1.

Sony Pictures's "The Green Hornet," the previous week's top seller and renter, dropped to No. 4 on the First Alert sales chart and No. 2 on the rental chart.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I" also made its belated debut near the top of the rental chart, as its 28-day holdback from popular rental outlets Netflix and Redbox expired. After a month of availability at brick-and-mortar rental stores, "Deathly Hallows" still managed to muster a No. 4 finish, up from No. 45 the previous week underscoring the strength of mail-order and kiosks in today's rental business.

"Never Say Never" debuted at No. 7 on the rental chart, while Anchor Bay's "Blue Valentine" debuted at No. 8. "Blue Valentine," which earned $9.7 million in a limited theatrical release, also bowed at No. 7 on the overall sales chart and No. 11 on the Blu-ray Disc chart.

Adele replaces Katy Perry atop U.S. singles chart (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Billboard) – British pop singer Adele, who has dominated the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic for the past few months, claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart Thursday.

Her song "Rolling in the Deep" rose one place to No. 1, swapping places with Katy Perry's "E.T.," which had led the chart for five weeks.

The soulful song's coronation marks a female artist's first Hot 100 No. 1 since Kesha's debut single "TiK ToK" began a nine-week reign in January 2010. Coincidentally, Kesha was the last female act to top the U.S. single and album charts at the same time, with "TiK ToK" and "Animal," respectively.

Prior to "Deep," Adele had charted solely with the No. 21-peaking "Chasing Pavements," from her debut album "19," in 2009. Her current album, "21," looks set to log an eighth week at No. 1 on the U.S. chart when listings are updated next Wednesday.

Perry scored a milestone, too. The perky pop singer has spent an unprecedented full year lodged in the chart's top 10. She began her streak when "California Gurls" debuted at No. 2 last May and eventually spent six weeks at No. 1. It was followed into the upper reaches by "Teenage Dream," "Firework" and then "E.T."

Prior to Perry, Swedish pop group Ace of Bass had held the Hot 100's uninterrupted top 10 longevity mark, linking 48 straight weeks in the top 10 with "All That She Wants," "The Sign" and "Don't Turn Around" between 1993 and 1994.

Back on the Hot 100, "American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor" jumped four places to No. 3, powered by her performance of the song on the talent show last week.

The Black Eyed Peas' "Just Can't Get Enough" held at No. 4 and Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song" at No. 5. Britney Spears' "Till the World Ends" fell three to No. 6.

As with Lopez, an "Idol" performance last Thursday aided Lady Antebellum, whose "Just a Kiss" blasted onto the Hot 100 at No. 7, marking the highest debut for a country group in the chart's 52-year history. It's the first single from the trio's forthcoming third studio album.

Pitbull's "Give Me Everything" jumped five places to No. 8, Rihanna's "S&M" fell three to No. 9, and Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now" held at No. 10.

Adele set to remain queen of album chart (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) – Adele's "21" is set for an eighth week atop the U.S. pop album chart next week, while the strongest debut will likely come from comedy troupe the Lonely Island.

Industry sources say the trio's "Turtleneck & Chain" could sell between 60,000 and 65,000 range by week's end on May 15, which will easily place it in the top five on the tally. Sales data will be published on Wednesday.

The Lonely Island's first set, "Incredibad" in 2009, debuted and peaked at No. 13 after selling 48,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It has since gone on to sell 358,000 copies in the United States.

Other albums looking to make top-10 bows include Christina Perri's "Lovestrong" and rapper Tyler, the Creator's "Goblin," with 40,000 to 45,000 copies each, and the Cars' "Move Like This," the band's first album since 1987's "Door to Door."

Adele remains No. 1 on sleepy U.S. album chart (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) – Adele logged a sixth nonconsecutive week at No. 1 on the U.S. pop album chart on Wednesday following a sleepy post-Easter sales week that saw no new releases enter the top 10.

The English pop singer sold 124,000 copies of her second album, "21," during the week ended May 1, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Total sales rose to 1.4 million after 10 weeks.

The Billboard 200's highest new entry was from instrumental rock band Explosions in the Sky's sixth album, "Take Care, Take Care, Take Care," which started at No. 16 with 19,000. Things should brighten up next week, once a bevy of new sets from the likes of Beastie Boys and Jennifer Lopez reach the tally.

Back in the top 10, the Foo Fighters' former chart-topper "Wasting Light" rose one to No. 2 with just 34,000 copies, while Mumford & Sons' "Sigh No More" jumped four to No. 3 with 32,000. Britney Spears' "Femme Fatale" rose one to No. 4 (30,000), swapping places with the Disney Channel's "Lemonade Mouth" soundtrack (29,600).

Chris Brown's "F.A.M.E." rose three to No. 6 (28,000) and "Glee, the Music Presents: The Warblers" slid five to No. 7 (27,600).

The next three albums were separated by fewer than 300 units. Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" jumped three to No. 8 (23,800), Wiz Khalifa's "Rolling Papers" rebounded three to No. 9 (23,600), and Paul Simon's "So Beautiful or So What" dropped two to No. 10 (23,500).

Overall album sales totaled 5.4 million units, down 17% compared with the previous week and down 2% compared with the comparable sales week of 2010. Year-to-date album sales stand at 101.9 million, down 2% compared with the same total at this point last year.
