Justin Timberlake joins Mila Kunis at marine ball (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap) – Justin Timberlake says he may join "Friends With Benefits" co-star Mila Kunis in attending the Marine Corps Ball in November.

After one Marine invited Kunis to attend on YouTube, Cpl. Kelsey De Santis issued her own YouTube invitation to Timberlake. Santis is apparently the only woman posted at the Martial Arts Center for Excellence at Marine Corps Base Quantico, in Virginia.

Timberlake had urged Kunis to accept her invitation -- and at a "Friends With Benefits" press event, she in turn urged him to accept his.

"Do it for your country," she said.

"I don't feel backed into a corner at all!" Timberlake said, before adding, "I'll tell you what, I accept. If my schedule works out to do it, I'd love to do it. It's an honor."

Kunis' attending was briefly in question after Access Hollywood's Billy Bush reported that she wouldn't be able to keep her date with Sgt. Scott Moore because she is filming two movies in November.

"Do not believe what Billy Bush says," Kunis told reporters. "I am attending ... I accepted an invitation and I'm staying true to my word."

The November 18 ball will take place in Greenville, N.C., with Kunis and Timberlake on the arms of some lucky marines.

"I don't get asked out, ever. So, I was very flattered by that. And I hear that she's trained in martial arts, so I'm hoping we can tussle at some point," Timberlake said of his date.

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap) – Mila Kunis is definitely going to the Marine Corps Ball with Sgt. Scott Moore in November.

Chances are, she won't be setting up any appointments with "Access Hollywood's" Billy Bush anytime soon, though.

The "Friends With Benefits" beauty lashed out at Bush during a stop on the press tour for her new film on Thursday, revealing that Bush had made up reports that she was canceling her date with Moore, who propositioned her on YouTube, due to professional obligations.

"Do not believe what Billy Bush says," Kunis said during a press conference with co-star Justin Timberlake at her side. "Please, I beg of you. Never did I say that I was not going. He made it up and people believed it, unfortunately."

And just to make sure that the air was completely clear on the matter, Kunis stated emphatically, "I am attending ... I accepted an invitation and I'm staying true to my word."

Bush sparked outrage across the Internet earlier this week when he reported that, contrary to Kunis' vow, she wouldn't be able to attend the ball, November 18 in Greenville, North Carolina. According to Bush, Kunis will be filming two movies in November, and thus wouldn't be able to make the date.

But as Kunis told reporters on Thursday, "I got permission to be released from work for the day, so I'm flying in and flying out."

The whole saga began earlier this month, when Timberlake told Kunis of Moore's date request, which the Marine -- who's currently stationed in Afghanistan -- posted on YouTube. At Timberlake's urging, the "Black Swan" star declared that she would accept the date.

Timberlake has also received an invitation to the same ball, from a female Marine stationed in Virginia, but he has yet to respond.

LOS ANGELES – Marine Sgt. Scott Moore has a big date coming up when he returns from military service in Afghanistan.

The data systems technician gained fame — and apparently a date with actress Mila Kunis — when he posted a video on YouTube last week inviting the "Black Swan" star to accompany him to the Marine Corps Ball in Greenville, N.C., in November. The annual event marks the founding of the Marines in 1775.

Kunis learned of the video during a recent interview with her "Friends With Benefits" co-star, Justin Timberlake, who urged her to fulfill her patriotic duties. Kunis agreed to the date, saying, "I'll go."

Her publicist, Melissa Raubvogel, had no comment Tuesday.

Moore said Tuesday that he made the video after a fellow Marine bet he wouldn't.

Standing on a base in Afghanistan and wearing his uniform and black sunglasses, he says on the 19-second video: "Hey Mila. It's Sergeant Moore, but you can call me Scott. I just wanted to take a moment out of my day to invite you to the Marine Corps Ball on November 18th in Greenville, N.C., with yours truly. So take a second, think about it and get back to me."

He said that though he has not communicated directly with the actress, "I have heard back from her people."

"I'm very excited about the opportunity to share the experience with Ms. Kunis and would like to thank her for accepting my offer," he said.

The corps' anniversary ball is one of the most important events on a Marine's calendar, according to spokeswoman Capt. Kendra Hardesty. Balls are held at bases and less formal celebrations by units in the field to mark the Nov. 10, 1775, founding of the branch.

Balls at garrisons are formal affairs, following a ceremony established in 1952. At each ball, the Marine Corps commandant's birthday message is read, along with a 1921 order issued by Maj. Gen. John A. Lejeune summarizing the tradition and mission of the corps.

After that, a cake-cutting ceremony is held in which the first piece is presented to the guest of honor, and then to the oldest Marine present, who in turn passes it to the youngest Marine present.

"This ball will be special not only because of Mila, but also because we will have recently returned from our deployment to Afghanistan," Moore said. He also served in Iraq in 2009.

Kunis won't be the first celebrity to attend a Marine birthday ball. Other Hollywood stars who've attended over the years include action film actor Chuck Norris and R. Lee Ermey, a retired Marine whose most famous role was an intense drill instructor in the film "Full Metal Jacket."
