On wedding day, Hugh Hefner embraces single life (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – On the day he was supposed to get married for the third time, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner said on Saturday he was probably better off staying single.

Hefner, 85, was dumped by 25-year-old fiancee Crystal Harris last weekend after she got jitters about living a tightly regimented life among dozens of attractive young women at the Playboy mansion in Los Angeles.

They were due to tie the knot on the grounds of the Gothic Tudor-style residence on Saturday afternoon, and to spend their honeymoon there.

"This was going to be my wedding day, but life is full of surprises. After all is said & done, staying single is probably for the best," Hefner said on Twitter.

Instead he will spend Saturday night watching "Runaway Bride," the 1999 romantic comedy that starred another real-life runaway bride, Julia Roberts.

For her part, Harris said she was leaving Los Angeles for a relaxing day trip with a Playboy public relations woman.

After Harris left Hefner, taking his beloved cocker spaniel Charlie with her, old friends and lovers descended upon the mansion to offer condolences. They included his second wife, Kimberley Conrad, and her mother; and former girlfriends Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt.

A heartbroken Hefner immersed himself in romantic comedies, hosting screenings of films such as "Sleepless in Seattle" and "50 First Dates" for his coterie of Playmates.

He also rushed out "Runaway Bride" stickers to be affixed to the new issue of Playboy, which features Harris -- a.k.a. "Mrs. Crystal Hefner" -- on the cover.

Hefner said he was blind-sided by the split, and denied a tabloid report that there has been a nasty argument.

Harris told "Entertainment Tonight" that Hefner's mandatory agenda of activities, strict 9 p.m. curfews and his refusal to allow her to leave town to visit friends and family led to her decision to break up with him.

She was also stressed out by meetings with attorneys about the prenuptial contract and other issues, and by the realization that she would have to compete for Hefner's affections.

"I can honestly say I was not the only woman in Hef's life. And I didn't feel comfortable in my heart knowing that, and being able to get married to him," she said.

Hefner, known around the world by his nickname, Hef, has championed sexual freedom and civil rights, published stories challenging McCarthyism and the Vietnam War, and backed gay causes and the legalization of marijuana.

Raised in San Diego by British parents, Harris met Hefner at his annual Halloween party in 2008. She moved in to the mansion after a few weeks and became Playboy's Playmate of the Month in December 2009.

Bruno Mars scores longest-reigning debut single (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Billboard) – With a 20th week at No. 1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart, Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are" becomes the longest-reigning debut single in the list's almost 50-year history.

The song beats the career-opening commands of Colbie Caillat's "Bubbly" (2008) and Daniel Powter's "Bad Day" (2006), each of which spent 19 weeks at No. 1.

"Way" marks Mars' debut song as a lead artist and his first to reach the AC chart. He previously charted on the Billboard Hot 100 as a featured vocalist on B.o.B's "Nothin' on You" (No. 1, two weeks) and Travie McCoy's "Billionaire" (No. 4) last year.

What has helped fuel the AC domination of "Way?" Before it reached the chart's summit the week of February 5, the track led Hot 100 Airplay (seven weeks), Adult Top 40 (five), the Hot 100 (four), Mainstream Top 40 (three) and Hot Digital Songs (two).

Mars' debut album, "Doo-Wops & Hooligans," bowed on the Billboard 200 at No. 3 the week of October 23, 2010, and has spent its first 36 weeks in the chart's top 40. The set has sold 1.1 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Christina Aguilera joins Maroon 5 on new single (AP)

LOS ANGELES – Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine of NBC's talent show "The Voice" are putting their voices together on a new Maroon 5 single.

Aguilera is featured with Levine and his band on the tune "Moves Like Jagger," which will be released next week on iTunes.

They'll perform the song on the June 21 episode of "The Voice," airing 9-11 p.m. EDT. The studio version will be available to buy online following the show, NBC announced Tuesday during this week's episode.

The track was recorded last month in Los Angeles, Levine said in a statement, adding that it was "great" getting to work with Aguilera. The song was described as quintessential Maroon 5 power pop, with an upbeat tune.

Aguilera called the collaboration a "wonderful opportunity."

Levine and Aguilera, along with Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton, are coaches on "The Voice," which awards the winning singer a record contract and a $100,000 prize.

Levine won't be idle for long after the June 29 season finale: Maroon 5 is co-headlining a North American summer tour with Train that begins July 22 in California.

Joe Jonas' 'See No More' solo single due out June 3 (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Joe Jonas will release his debut solo single "See No More" -- co-written by Jonas and Chris Brown -- on June 3, arriving to digital retailers on June 13.

"See No More" is the Jonas Brothers singer's first offering from his upcoming debut album, due out September 6 on Hollywood Records. The set boasts production by Danja, Brian Kennedy and Rob Knox.

"Working on this album has been a rewarding but intense experience. 'See No More' especially carries a lot of personal emotions with it and I am hoping people listening to it will get a sense of where I'm coming from with this new sound," Jonas said. "I've had an awesome team working with me on the music and I am excited, anxious, but more importantly... ready... to share it all with my fans. It's as much for them as it is for me."

Jonas Brothers' last studio album, "Lines, Vines and Trying Times," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2009, selling 247,000 copies in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan. It has sold 661,000 in the U.S. to date.

The Brothers have notched five top 10 albums, including last year's "Jonas L.A." soundtrack to their Disney Channel series, and have sold 4.4 million albums.

Joe is the second of the three Brothers to release his own project away from the brother trio. Younger brother Nick Jonas released his Hollywood Records debut, "Who I Am," last year, which bowed and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

Peter Andre talks to heat about relationships and being single

In his first exclusive interview this year Peter Andre tells heat magazine:

"I'm a single man. This year is about having fun and lots of it. I'm not ready for a relationship and settling down and doing the love thing.

"When I do fall in love, I'll go to the ends of the earth for that person. I'd lay down on a carpet of nails for the person I love. But for now, it's time to live dangerously and have fun, you know what I mean?"

Pete added: "Elen and I never saw one another. I am so busy and so is Elen, and in my heart, I knew that the relationship was never going to step up to the next level. We weren't going to get married.

"We are better off as friends - and we are. It's amicable and I still meet up with her. We're mates, and if we had stayed together that could have been ruined.

"We never argued and if the relationship had continued, we would have started to row."

The full interview appears in this week's issue of heat magazine, on sale now (Tuesday). The brand new series of Peter Andre: The Next Chapter starts on Thursday 28 April at 9pm on ITV2.
