Selena Gomez granted temporary restraining order (AP)

BURBANK, Calif. – A judge has granted Selena Gomez a temporary restraining order from a man with a history of mental illness who police say threatened the singer-actress.

Court records show the "Wizards of Waverly Place" star was granted the order Thursday in Burbank, which is north of downtown Los Angeles. Thomas Brodnicki is required to stay 100 yards away from Gomez and her workplace until a Nov. 4 hearing, when the order may be extended for three years.

Gomez wrote in a sworn declaration that she is in "extreme fear" of Brodnicki.

The filings, first reported Monday by celebrity website TMZ, state police were notified by mental health workers that the 46-year-old had threatened to harm or kill the actress while on a psychiatric hold.

Attempts to reach Brodnicki were unsuccessful.

Berry granted restraining order against intruder (AP)

LOS ANGELES – A judge has granted Halle Berry a three-year civil restraining order against a man charged with stalking the Oscar-winning actress.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Carol Boas Goodson granted Berry the order Monday without requiring the actress to attend a hearing. Berry wrote in a petition last month that she was "extremely frightened" of Richard A. Franco, who was arrested after scaling the wall of her house July 11.

Franco is required to stay 100 yards from the actress and her 3-year-old daughter.

Franco remains jailed after being charged with felony stalking and burglary. He is accused of entering Berry's property three times over a three-day period in July, including an incident in which the actress says he nearly followed her into her home.

'Frightened' Halle Berry granted restraining order (AP)

LOS ANGELES – Halle Berry on Tuesday obtained a restraining order against a man who was taken into custody outside her home hours earlier, the third such arrest in as many days.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Carol Goodson ordered Richard Franco, 27, to stay 100 yards away from Berry and her young daughter if he is released from jail.

It was Franco's third arrest for trespassing at the Oscar-winning actress' home in three days.

"This person has jeopardized not only my personal safety, but also the safety and well-being of my family," Berry wrote in a sworn declaration. "This person has invaded and trampled upon the most fundamental sense of security I have, and I am extremely frightened of him and what he might do to me or those I love."

Berry said Franco had come within a foot of her on Sunday, when he apparently followed her to her kitchen door. The actress wrote she was able to lock the door and call police before Franco got into her home.

Franco was also spotted by Berry and her manager at the actress' home on Saturday, according to court files.

Off-duty police officers hired by Berry to patrol her property saw Franco scale a security gate at her home late Monday. Berry wrote she was home alone with her 3-year-old daughter when Franco was arrested that night.

He remained jailed in lieu of $150,000 bail on Tuesday.

A hearing on whether to extend the order for three years on Aug. 1.

Berry won the best actress Academy Award in 2001 for her role in "Monster's Ball."

Elizabeth Hurley, Arun Nayar granted divorce (AP)

LONDON – Actress Elizabeth Hurley and businessman Arun Nayar have divorced after four years of marriage.

The divorce decree was granted at a brief hearing in London Wednesday by District Judge Penny Cushing.

Neither Hurley nor Nayar was in court.

The British actress and Indian businessman married in 2007 at an English castle, with singer Elton John giving the bride away. They followed up the private civil ceremony with a lavish and traditional Hindi wedding in Jodphur, India.

Hurley announced last December that the couple had separated. She has since been romantically linked to Australian cricket star Shane Warne.

Hurley, 46-years old, dated actor Hugh Grant for more than a decade and has a nine-year-old son, Damian, from a relationship with film producer Steve Bing.
