Kim Kardashian cancels Australian tour

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Attention, Australia: Kim Kardashian hasn't just left the building, she's left the country.

The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star has abruptly abandoned her promotional blitz Down Under, amid questions about her divorce from NBA player Kris Humphries.

"She went to Australia to honor her commitments," a statement from her personal publicist reads. "However, during this very difficult time she felt it'd be best to return home to close friends and family."

Kardashian arrived in Sydney with her sister Khloe on Tuesday, and managed to promote her Kardashian Kollection line of handbags at events in venues such as Sydney nightclub Hugo's and the Westfield Miranda shopping center.

However, the reality TV personality has reportedly decided to fly back to Los Angeles either Thursday or Friday. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Kardashian is "devastated" by her impending divorce from Humphries and is unable to fulfill the remainder of her obligations in Australia -- which included an appearance at the Melbourne Cup Carnival Saturday.

Kardashian, 31, filed for divorce from Humphries Monday, after just 72 days of marriage.

The split has generated an onslaught of headlines, including numerous suggestions that the union was a publicity stunt, and reports that Kardashian had profited handsomely from the wedding.

As reported earlier, Kardashian and Humphries raked in about $18 million from the wedding, including $2.5 million from People for the wedding photos, and $15 million for the two-part E! special "Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event."

In a statement following the split, Kardashian lamented, "I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."

Spokespersons for Kardashian did not immediately respond to TheWrap's request for comment.

Japan maestro Ozawa cancels China performances (Reuters)

TOKYO (Reuters) – Seiji Ozawa, Japan's most famous conductor, will not take part in a music festival in China later this week, organizers said, with media reporting that he was in hospital in Tokyo for tests.

The 75-year-old former Vienna State Opera musical director, who for many years was also conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, was diagnosed with oesophogeal cancer in January 2010 and completed treatment later that year.

In January, he had endoscopic lower back surgery for chronic back pain and took a six-month break from conducting. But his comeback at the Saito Kinen Festival in the Japanese castle town of Matsumoto ran into trouble last week when he was diagnosed with dehydration and a light case of pneumonia, forcing him to cancel two of four performances.

"He will not be taking part in performances in China," said a spokesperson at the Saito Kinen Festival, the organizer of the Chinese event.

She would not confirm media reports that Ozawa was in hospital for tests and unspecified treatment.

Ozawa was one of the first Asian classical musicians widely recognized abroad and has strived to revitalize the classical music scene in his native country by founding the Saito Kinen Festival.

Born the son of a dentist in 1935 in Shenyang, part of what was then Japanese-occupied China, Ozawa spent much of his early childhood in Beijing and has kept up connections with China since the late 1970s, when he was invited to work with a Chinese orchestra for a week.

Ozawa had been set to take part in four performances during the Chinese festival, which runs from Sept 1 to 11.

Singer Tom Jones cancels concert, denies heart scare (Reuters)

LONDON (Reuters) – Singer Tom Jones canceled a Saturday night concert in Monaco due to severe dehydration, his spokesman said on Sunday, but he denied reports that the veteran Welsh crooner was suffering heart problems.

The 71-year-old star's performance on Saturday had been due to be the last of a 3-month tour.

"Tom was ordered by doctors not to perform in Monte Carlo yesterday evening, due to severe dehydration," a statement issued on behalf of the singer said.

"This was extremely disappointing for Tom, the band and all connected with the tour. This was the last date of a very successful 3-month tour, where many of the shows were in locations that were in the throes of high summer heat.

"There are no heart problems, as has been reported in the press."

Jones is famous for his powerful voice and a string of hits including "What's New Pussycat?," "She's a Lady" and "Kiss," and he has sold an estimated 100 million records during a career of almost 50 years.

Tom Jones cancels concert, cites 'dehydration' (AP)

LONDON – "Sex Bomb" singer Tom Jones was recovering in a Monaco hospital Sunday, saying "severe dehydration" forced him to cancel a concert in the glamorous principality.

The longtime star, famed for his swivel-hipped appeal and soulful voice, apologized to his fans on his website and emphatically denied British press reports that he had suffered a heart scare that forced him to cancel his Monaco concert Saturday night.

"There are NO heart problems, as has been reported in the press," the singer's website stated.

Jones, a 71-year-old Welshman who burst to international fame in 1964 with "It's Not Unusual" and other hits, blamed his illness on a long successful tour "where many of the shows were in locations that were in the throes of high summer heat."

The website statement indicated that Jones had no choice but to make a rare cancellation: "Sir Tom was ordered by doctors not to perform in Monte Carlo yesterday evening due to severe dehydration," the statement read. "This was extremely disappointing for Tom, the band and all connected with the tour."

Saturday's canceled show was to have been the finale of his 3-month "Praise & Blame" tour.

A spokesman for the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco told The Associated Press that Jones was admitted to the hospital Saturday night and was doing well Sunday. There was no word on when Jones would be released.

Jones, whose charisma onstage earned some comparisons to U.S rocker Elvis Presley, made his singing debut at three. He appeared in hundreds of clubs and dance halls before his breakthrough series of hits catapulted him to some of the world's finest venues, with repeated shows at Las Vegas' glitzy hotels and casinos.

At the peak of his fame, and for decades afterward, adoring women near the front of the audience would shower him with their underwear as a sign of devotion.

Jones held onto his sexy image for decades, only recently agreeing to perform and be photographed without touching up the gray in his hair and beard.

In his statement, the apologetic crooner thanked fans for their understanding and support.

Jones plans a short tour of central and eastern Europe beginning in November.

Gavin DeGraw out of hospital, cancels concerts (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Singer Gavin DeGraw was released from a New York hospital on Tuesday after apparently being attacked by three men and hit by a taxi cab, causing a concussion, broken nose and numerous cuts and bruises.

Police said they were investigating an assault by three males in the city's East Village in the early morning hours on Monday, but said it was unclear what led to the attack.

"The victim claims to have been struck by these individuals and taken to hospital," a police spokesman said. Police would not comment on whether DeGraw had been drinking.

The 34-year-old singer also reported having been struck by a taxi soon after the assault. He had just left a group of friends when the attack took place. No arrests have been made and no motive has emerged for the assault.

The New York singer, whose hits include "I Don't Want to Be" and "Chariot," was suffering from "a concussion, broken nose, black eyes, cuts and bruises," his representatives said.

DeGraw has been the opening act for the first leg of rock bands Train and Maroon 5's U.S. tour. His spokeswoman said that due to the injuries, DeGraw will not be performing on August 12 or 13.

"Gavin and his family appreciate everyone's concern at this time," the spokeswoman said in a statement.

DeGraw got his start playing in nightclubs in and around Manhattan and hit it big when "I Don't Want to Be" was chosen as the theme song for television drama, "One Tree Hill.

Gregg Allman cancels tour due to respiratory illness (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Gregg Allman, the southern rock legend and frontman for The Allman Brothers Band, has canceled a series of summer concerts due to a lingering upper respiratory condition, his representative said on Monday.

On doctor's orders, the 63-year-old veteran bluesman and member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, was forced to cancel tour dates from August 26 - September 15. Some of the dates will be rescheduled for later in the year.

Allman, who battles Hepatitis C and has struggled with drug and alcohol addictions during his life, is recovering from a liver transplant last year. In June, he had to cancel four dates at the end of a four-week European tour.

"His doctor hoped that with rest he'd get better, but unfortunately the issue has persisted," Allman's representative said in a statement. "Treatment is going to involve several days of hospitalization and 4-6 weeks of bed rest at home."

Allman expects to return to touring in the late fall to support of his highly acclaimed "Low Country Blues" album, his first solo work in 14 years, his management said.

The Nashville-born singer, keyboardist and songwriter, who earned a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, penned the hits "Midnight Rider" and "Whipping Post." The Allman Brothers Band, which was formed with his late brother Duane Allman, is known for its renditions of classic southern rock songs such as "Statesboro Blues" and "Black Hearted Woman."

His most recent tour comes on the heels of a July 27 benefit concert he gave on the eve of World Hepatitis Day. Allman suffers from Hepatitis C and is a spokesman for the Tune into Hep-C campaign.

The benefit, which starred The Allman Brothers Band, included Natalie Cole, the Grateful Dead's Phil Lesh, David Crosby, Graham Nash, and ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons. It raised over a quarter million dollars to support the American Liver Foundation and the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable.

Allman also struggled with cocaine, heroin and alcohol problems through much of his adult life.

Gregg Allman cancels dates for medical reasons (AP)

NEW YORK – Rock legend Gregg Allman has canceled tour dates from Aug. 26 to Sept. 15 because of a persistent illness.

A statement from Allman's publicist on Monday says the 63-year-old has an "upper respiratory condition" that will require several days of hospitalization and four to six weeks of bed rest.

Allman underwent a successful liver transplant last year and returned to the road just a few months later.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee canceled the final four dates of his recent European tour because of the same illness. Doctors had hoped the rest would resolve the ailment, but Allman remained sick.

Allman plans to reschedule the canceled dates and hopes to return to the road in late fall.

Katy Perry cancels concerts after food-poisoning (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap) – When Katy Perry opens her mouth to sing, something beautiful tends to come out. When she opens her mouth to eat? Maybe not so much.

The "Teenage Dream" singer was forced to cancel a pair of concerts for Friday and Saturday after suffering a bout of food poisoning and severe dehydration, according to her official website.

The concerts, which were to occur in Chicago and St. Paul, have been rescheduled for next month. Perry fought through the illness to fire up her Twitter account and announce the new dates on Friday, writing, "Chicago and St. Paul -- I'm so sorry to have to postpone today and tomorrow's shows. But I'll be back 8/21 (CHI) and 8/23 (St. Paul)!"

Perry noted in a statement, "I am going to return in a few weeks to give them the very best show ever!"

Perry's next concert is scheduled for Regina, Saskatchewan, on Wednesday.

Amy Winehouse cancels shows after Serbian farce (AFP)

LONDON (AFP) – Troubled singer Amy Winehouse has cancelled her appearances at festivals in Turkey and Greece after she was jeered at a show in Serbia when it appeared that she was too drunk to perform.

The soul-diva pulled out of the shows, which take place later this week, as she "cannot perform to the best of her ability", her spokesman said.

Winehouse, who has battled drug addiction and has reportedly received treatment for a drinking problem, mumbled her way through Saturday's set at Belgrade's Fortress festival before 20,000 disgruntled fans.

Many soon left the concert, calling the 27-year-old singer's performance a "scandal" and a "disaster".

During the 90 minute set, Winehouse left the stage twice, while many fans -- some from neighbouring countries -- booed and whistled as she tried to find a proper note, with her band trying to calm the crowd.

The multi-Grammy award winner apologised for pulling out of her appearances at the Kucuk Ciftlik Park festival in Istanbul and the Ejekt festival in Athens.

Her spokesman said: "Despite feeling sure that she wanted to fulfil these commitments, she has agreed with management that she cannot perform to the best of her ability and will return home.

"She would like to apologise to fans expecting to see her at the shows but feels that this is the right thing to do."

Winehouse reportedly ended an alcohol rehabilitation programme in London two weeks ago and local media reported that alcohol had been banned for the tour.

Ailing Amy Winehouse cancels part of European tour (AP)

By SYLVIA HUI and JOVANA GEC, Associated Press Sylvia Hui And Jovana Gec, Associated Press – 4 mins ago

LONDON – Amy Winehouse canceled part of her European tour on Sunday, a day after the British singer was heavily booed for being late and displaying erratic behavior on stage during a concert in Serbia.

The concert late Saturday in the Serbian capital of Belgrade kicked off what was to be a 12-date tour of Europe. But Winehouse decided to cancel appearances in Istanbul on Monday and in Athens on Wednesday, according to a statement from publicity company Outside Organization.

Her representatives said it would be "worked out as soon as possible" whether she would attend the rest of her European tour. The next scheduled concert date after Athens is July 8 in Bilbao, Spain. The tour was to end in Bucharest, Romania, on Aug. 15.

Winehouse would like to say sorry to fans expecting to see her in Turkey and Greece, but "feels that this is the right thing to do," the statement said.

"Despite feeling sure that she wanted to fulfill these commitments, she has agreed with management that she cannot perform to the best of her ability and will return home," it added.

There was no further explanation for exactly why Winehouse was canceling.

But Winehouse, who has publicly struggled for years with drug and alcohol issues, was jeered as she performed in Belgrade. She arrived almost an hour late before stumbling to the stage and appearing unable to remember the lyrics to her songs. She dropped the microphone, mumbled through her songs and occasionally disappeared, leaving her band to keep on playing.

A video posted on YouTube shows Winehouse wildly staggering around while trying to sing and stopping several times in mid-verse, looking over to her bandmates for help. At one point, she calls over a backup singer to fill in for her.

Serbian media described the concert before 20,000 fans as a "scandal" and a "disaster." The Blic daily said the concert was "the worst in the history of Belgrade."

The crowd at Belgrade's Kalemegdan Park could hardly tell which song Winehouse was singing and responded angrily. Many walked out in disappointment.

"It was horrible," said Ivana Bilic. "She should have canceled the whole thing, rather than appear at all like this."

The Daily Blic posted a clip from the concert on its website, commenting, "Listen if you dare."

Tickets cost about (EURO)40 ($57) — very expensive in the country where average salaries are about (EURO)300 ($428) a month.

Winehouse recently spent a week at a rehab program in London. Her 2006 breakthrough album "Back to Black" won five Grammy Awards, but her music in recent years has been overshadowed by her drug use and run-ins with the law.

Adele cancels North American dates due to laryngitis (Reuters)

LONDON (Reuters) – British singer Adele has postponed five dates of her North American tour due to laryngitis, she said on her website, frustrating fans in the United States where she has dominated charts in recent weeks.

The 23-year-old Grammy-winning artist was diagnosed with the throat complaint last week in Minneapolis, forcing her to cancel a performance at the last moment.

Adele returned to the stage in Denver at the weekend, but the comeback proved too early and she was forced to call off Sunday night's gig in Salt Lake City.

She postponed a show on Tuesday in Vancouver, Canada, and will also reschedule performances in Seattle and Portland due later this week. According to her website, the tour will resume on June 4 in San Francisco.

Adele's album "21" has sold around two million copies in North America, almost matching its UK tally and making her one of the few British artists who has enjoyed major chart success on both sides of the Atlantic.

The Londoner was recently voted the most powerful force in British music by the Guardian newspaper.
