Nick Jonas to replace Daniel Radcliffe on Broadway (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) – Nick Jonas is heading back to the Great White Way.

The Jonas Brothers guitarist, who lately has been returning to his stage roots in productions of "Les Miserables" and "Hairspray," has signed on for the lead role in the Broadway Production of "How to Succeed in Show Business Without Really Trying."

The tween sensation made the announcement on his Twitter account Wednesday, writing, "It's official. I'm coming back to Broadway ... So excited and honored to play the role of J. Pierrepont Finch in 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying' next year!"

Jonas will inherit the role of the ambitious window-washer from "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe, who assumed the part in March and will vacate the revival of the show on January 1. According to MTV, Jonas will begin his run in the part on January 24 and hold the gig until July 1 of next year. "Glee" star Darren Criss will serve as interim star in the production between Radcliffe and Jonas.

Though more recently known as a Disney pop star, the 18-year-old Jonas began his career in live theater at the age of 7, performing in such Broadway productions as "Annie Get Your Gun," "A Christmas Carol" and "Beauty and the Beast."

NEW YORK – Producers looking for someone to replace Daniel Radcliffe on Broadway have landed their prize — a Jonas.

Nick Jonas will step into the role of J. Pierrepont Finch next year in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." He begins Jan. 24 and will play the role until July 1.

"This is going to be an exciting journey," the 19-year-old singer and actor said during his unveiling Wednesday at the venerable theater-district hangout Sardi's.

Radcliffe's final performance is set for Jan. 1. Darren Criss of Fox's hit show "Glee" will make his Broadway debut in the role for three weeks, from Jan. 3 to Jan. 22. Then Jonas, the youngest of the three heartthrob siblings, begins.

He's a veteran of the stage, appearing as Little Jake in "Annie Get Your Gun" in 2001 and Chip in "Beauty and the Beast" the following year before playing the young street urchin Gavroche in "Les Miserables" during its final months in 2003, his last time on Broadway. He also played the role of Marius in "Les Miserables" in London last year.

He made his stage debut in 2000 when he was cast in a production of "A Christmas Carol," playing Tiny Tim opposite Frank Langella's Scrooge at Madison Square Garden. His other credits include playing Kurt in "The Sound of Music" at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey. Earlier this year, he was in "Hairspray" at the Hollywood Bowl.

"It's great to come back to Broadway," Jonas said. "I always said my return to Broadway would have to feel right — the right role at the right time. This felt right."

Tony and Emmy awards winner Rob Ashford, the director and choreographer of "How to Succeed," suspects that Jonas probably has more experience on stage than many actors in the cast.

"He understands the eight-show-a-week idea, he understands the commitment that it takes, he understands the family, he understands the support everyone gives to each other. It's thrilling for us to have him."

Jonas says he has yet to meet Radcliffe, who opened the role in March, but hopes to soon. "He's an incredible actor and he's doing such a great job with the show, so it will be cool to sit down with him and pick his brain."

Ashford says there's a natural symmetry to replacing the young "Harry Potter" star with Jonas, and that will likely send a new wave of teens to the Broadway box office.

"It's good news for bringing young people to theater," he said.

Daniel Radcliffe substitute announced for Broadway (AP)

NEW YORK – Producers of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" have turned to TV to find a replacement for star Daniel Radcliffe.

Darren Criss of Fox's hit show "Glee" will make his Broadway debut as J. Pierrepont Finch for three weeks starting Jan. 3 until Jan. 22. Radcliffe's final performance is set for Jan. 1.

On "Glee," Criss plays Blaine Anderson, a gay student at Dalton Academy and the leader of the "Warblers," an all-male singing group.

"How to Succeed" opened March 27 at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre and was nominated for eight 2011 Tony Awards.

According to the Huffington Post, his last stint in treatment was just this past May. The "Tudors" star has yet to make any public announcement regarding this most recent incident.

Prince Harry

Prince Harry, the youngest son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, has a reputation for his hard-partying ways. The UK Daily Mail reported that Charles sent Harry to a treatment facility after he admitted to smoking cannabis and drinking liquor back in 2002. His stay lasted one day and seemed to serve more as a warning and punishment than anything else.

Considering that Prince Harry still makes headlines for late nights at London clubs, it seems doubtful that he has stopped drinking, but his behavior has toned down a bit over the years.

Actor Haley Joel Osment gained instant stardom after appearing in "The Sixth Sense" next to Bruce Willis back in 1999. Just seven years later, he was arrested for drunk driving and drug possession. He suffered a broken rib after crashing his car into a mailbox in California. According to the Associated Press, Osment was ordered by a judge to enter a treatment facility and attend 26 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

Kirsten Dunst

Another celebrity who found fame at a very young age, Kirsten Dunst, found herself in rehab in 2008. She didn't discuss it publicly until 2010, avoiding the question in many interviews. According to The Huffington Post, Dunst insists that the treatment she received was for depression. She did admit that she had nights where she drank too much, but insisted that she did not have an addiction problem. She has not gotten into any trouble recently, so it appears that even if she did have a problem, the "Interview With A Vampire Star" is doing well now.

Seann William Scott

"American Pie" star Seann William Scott announced in April of this year that he successfully completed a 30-day treatment program for undisclosed personal and health problems, according to the Los Angeles Times. Scott is best known as Steve Stiffler in the three "American Pie" films. He was out of rehab in time to start filming yet another movie in the series, which will feature much of the original cast and focus on the group's 10-year high school reunion.

Celebrities who gain fame quickly at a young age are particularly vulnerable to addiction. The younger the star, the greater the odds they will end up in rehab at some point. Some enter rehab once and seem to straighten out, as in the case of Kirsten Dunst. Others, like Jonathan Rhys Meyers, face a more difficult road on the path to recovery. Hopefully Daniel Radcliffe is able to enjoy sobriety for a long time to come.

Zeta-Jones, Radcliffe to hand out Tonys (AP)

NEW YORK – Tony Awards host Neil Patrick Harris will have some big-name help on theater's big night.

Producers of the awards show revealed on Tuesday some of the presenters who will help hand out the honors June 12 at the Beacon Theatre in New York.

The list includes Daniel Radcliffe, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock, Alec Baldwin, Samuel L. Jackson, Kelsey Grammer, Viola Davis, Vanessa Redgrave, James Earl Jones, Harry Connick Jr., Christie Brinkley, David Hyde Pierce, Marg Helgenberger, Matthew Broderick, Angela Lansbury, Jim Parsons and Joel Grey, among others.

The show will be televised by CBS.
