Lindsay Lohan sued over spat with rehab worker (AP)

By ANTHONY McCARTNEY, AP Entertainment Writer Anthony Mccartney, Ap Entertainment Writer – 2 hrs 7 mins ago

LOS ANGELES – Court records show a rehab worker who was fired from the Betty Ford Center after an argument with Lindsay Lohan has sued the actress.

Attorneys for Dawn Bradley filed the lawsuit in Indio, Calif., on Thursday. Bradley claims she was seriously injured during a December altercation with the 25-year-old Lohan.

A full copy of the suit was not immediately available.

Steve Honig, a spokesman for Lohan, declined comment

Bradley's attorney Owen McIntosh says his client requires surgery on her wrist because of the injury.

Bradley, who is also known by her married name of Dawn Holland, was fired from Betty Ford Center after discussing the incident with Lohan on camera with celebrity website TMZ.

Prosecutors in Riverside County, east of Los Angeles, declined to charge Lohan with battery.

US judge presses Lindsay Lohan over counseling (AFP)

LOS ANGELES (AFP) – A US judge ordered troubled US actress Lindsay Lohan Thursday to sign up for psychological counseling, a key condition of her receiving probation for an alleged jewelry theft.

At an updated hearing on Lohan, who was banned last month from holding parties while in home detention, Los Angeles Superior Court judge Stephanie Sautner said she had three weeks to enroll for one-on-one counseling.

"Trust me, she will be held to that (enrollment) deadline," Sautner said. "I will not take into consideration, 'Sorry, I was on the set of the John Gotti movie.' This will be completed on time," she said.

The 25-year-old was sentenced to 35 days of home detention in May, as part of a plea bargain over the alleged theft of a $2,500 necklace from a jewelry shop near her home in Venice Beach.

On June 23 she was brought back to court after reportedly testing positive for alcohol, and banned from partying -- specifically by having no more than one friend to visit at a time -- while she completed her home detention.

On Thursday the judge said Lohan had so far completed 33 hours of the 480 hours of community service she was sentenced to, and attended a counseling course for shoplifters, but had not enrolled yet for psychological counseling.

Her lawyer Shawn Holley said the actress was making efforts to complete the psychological counseling, but could not attend group sessions because of the risk of someone trying to profit from information gleaned.

Lohan had been enrolled in one-on-one counseling sessions at UCLA, but had to end that program due to "financial issues" apparently involving her insurance coverage, the attorney said.

She added that Lohan would complete the counseling requirement.

It is the latest in a long list of legal tangles for Lohan -- once the promising child star of hit Disney movies "The Parent Trap" and "Freaky Friday" -- who has a reputation for hard partying.

In July last year Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail and another 90 days in rehab for violating her probation in a drunk driving case, but served just 13 days due to prison overcrowding.

She was jailed again in September, but was granted bail after only 15 hours behind bars and subsequently checked into rehab for drug addiction, a course she completed in January.

Judge orders Lindsay Lohan back to court (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Actress Lindsay Lohan, currently serving a home detention sentence, was ordered on Wednesday back to court on an allegation she violated her probation in a drunken driving case, a court official said.

The 24 year-old actress -- who is confined to her home on a separate sentence for stealing a necklace earlier this year -- is due in court on Thursday morning in Los Angeles, said Sandi Gibbons, spokeswoman for the L.A. District Attorney's Office.

Gibbons said she did not know how Lohan allegedly violated her probation. But entertainment website Radar Online cited unnamed sources as saying Lohan tested positive for alcohol, which would violate her probation in the drunken driving case.

Lohan has been dogged by the 2007 drunk driving case for years and has served several stints in rehab and jail for violating her probation. A judge last year ordered Lohan to court for missing alcohol education classes, and she later went to a rehab center in southern California.

She was released from that facility in January and then landed in trouble, again, for stealing the necklace from a Los Angeles-area jewelry store.

Lohan was once considered one of Hollywood's most promising actresses, but her career has fallen on hard times due to her personal and legal troubles.

Painter directs short film starring Lindsay Lohan (Reuters)

VENICE (Hollywood Reporter) – For Commercial Break, one of the most anticipated exhibitions running concurrent to the 54th Venice Biennial, artist Richard Phillips - primarily a painter - tried his hand at filmmaking, creating two short ethereal movies, one starring Lindsay Lohan and former porn star-turned-actress Sasha Grey.

Grey's film is a subdued night scene that follows her walking as if in a daydream through John Lautner's famous Chemosphere house, owned by art book publisher Benedikt Taschen; while Lohan's film shows the starlet plunging out of the crystal blue waters of an infinity pool.

Phillips, who makes bold pop paintings of celebrities usually rendered from imagery culled from magazines and the Internet, tried his first foray into collaboration with these two stars. The result has been two of the most talked about works among the show's 150 artists, all of whom were asked to make 90 second films.

Realizing that with so many people in the exhibition he wouldn't get much airplay, Phillips released the films virally first, to maximize exposure. The Hollywood Reporter caught up with the artist in Venice at the lavish Bauer Hotel to discuss his latest body of work.

The Hollywood Reporter: Had you been thinking about film for a while?

Phillips: I had not a single thought to make a film. I had decided that I wanted to take photographs of two actors, and I had been in communication with both for different projects. When this came up, I said well, if we can go to the trouble of setting up a shoot, why not bring video and try to get some motion footage of that.

Realizing I had no experience, I contacted my friend Taylor Steele, who is a legendary surf filmmaker. We set up our offices in Los Angeles to begin an incredible week of filming. We had the Chemosphere House so we were shooting in a work of art. We had one day each with the talent and we had a day before to practice out of Santa Monica.

THR: Were you actually making those directorial calls when it came time to shoot?

Phillips: Yeah. I made these storyboards that were based on my experiences watching Bergman's "Persona" and Goddard's "Contempt." Those films really matched in a lot of ways the ideas of these young actors in a transformative moment, making a decision to live their lives in art and the consequences that ultimately befall that. With Lindsay, it's very easy to work with her because she is an extraordinarily beautiful woman. She would always get it on the first take. With Sasha, she had a huge career in adult performance and a new career in cinema and television. The melancholy that happens in her film is something that you never see in her former career. In the work she did on "Entourage" and with Steven Soderbergh ("The Girlfriend Experience"), you're still seeing her being positioned in relationship to her past and I wanted to let her be above that.

THR: Do you think both of these women gravitated toward an art related project because they are both trying to shift the idea that people have about their past?

Phillips: I think that could be assumed but the fact really is that the way I initially got in contact with them is about painting. So if you think about it in a film way you could say yes, it was on our mind to present them independently in this state of mind as they are today, as people and not as these media characters.

THR: Was it a challenge to edit down the footage to 90 seconds?

Phillips: I worked with Haines Hall of Spot Welders who had worked with Sofia Coppola on "The Virgin Suicides" and Doug Aitken's big project at MoMa. He was extremely experienced in crushing huge amounts of footage into highly communicative short bursts. We started with Lindsay and the amounts of gorgeous footage we had gave me chills.

Lindsay Lohan wins restraining order against man (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Actress Lindsay Lohan on Wednesday won a two-year restraining order against a man she says sent her delusional phone text messages and left chocolates at her door.

The order by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Joseph Biderman came after Lohan had obtained a temporary restraining order against David Cocordan.

Lohan did not attend the court hearing on Wednesday because she was serving a home detention sentence for jewelry theft. She is expected to be released around the end of June.

The 24 year-old star of the films "Mean Girls" and "Freaky Friday" said in court papers last month that Cocordan believed he was in a romantic relationship with her.

Lohan also accused him of contacting her with more than 100 unwanted phone calls and sexually explicit text messages since 2009.

Lohan, who was once considered one of Hollywood's most promising actors, has barely been out of the news for four years due to repeated trips to jail and drug rehabilitation.

Lindsay Lohan settles suit over 2007 highway chase (AP)

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – Lindsay Lohan has settled a lawsuit filed by a woman who was chased by the actress in a pre-dawn pursuit that has haunted the actress in civil and criminal courts for nearly three years.

The starlet on Wednesday settled the lawsuit filed by Tracie Rice, who claimed she was traumatized and lost a well-paying job because of the incident, court records show.

Rice was a passenger in a car driven by the mother of Lohan's former assistant, who the actress pursued down the scenic Pacific Coast Highway in July 2007. The chase ended with Lohan's arrest in the parking lot of the Santa Monica Police Department; Rice has said she thought the actress was trying to carjack her.

No details of the settlement, which was first reported Friday by celebrity website TMZ, were released.

"Lindsay is very pleased to put this unfortunate event behind her," her attorney, Ed McPherson, wrote in a statement.

Lohan was arrested twice for driving under the influence in 2007, and remains on probation for offenses. She has struggled to comply with the terms of her release, with three separate judges sending her to jail since July 2010.

The "Mean Girls" star was sentenced to four months in jail last month for violating her probation by taking a necklace without permission, and on Thursday surrendered to authorities and began serving her term on house arrest. She is expected to spend roughly 35 days on home confinement.

Rice's case against Lohan has been repeatedly delayed in the past year because of Lohan's stints in jail and rehab. Rice's attorney, Paul L. Hoffman, did not immediately return a call seeking comment Friday.

Lohan is also being sued by three men who were in the sport utility vehicle the actress used to pursue Rice. McPherson wrote the actress expects to be vindicated in that case.

Lindsay Lohan starts house arrest for jewelry theft (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Actress Lindsay Lohan began a sentence for jewelry theft under house arrest on Thursday, but is likely to serve only about 35 days of her four month term, officials said.

Lohan, 24, turned up at a Los Angeles jail at 5 a.m. on Thursday, was deemed eligible for home confinement, fitted with an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet and released to her home within an hour, Los Angeles Sheriff's department spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

"Ms. Lohan will be under the supervision of the sheriff's department and her release date is expected to be around June 29," Whitmore said. "She will serve about 35 days on home detention."

The "Mean Girls" actress was sentenced two weeks ago to four months jail and 480 hours community service after pleading no contest to stealing a $2,500 gold necklace from a store in January.

It was not immediately clear how much time she would be confined to house arrest. But Whitmore said earlier this month she would likely serve 16-17 days at home under programs for nonviolent offenders, good behavior and because of overcrowding in the city's jails.

Lohan has already started her community service at a women's jail.

Lohan has been in and out of jail and drug and alcohol rehab for the past four years following a 2007 arrest for drunken driving and cocaine possession.

Her troubles have derailed her once promising Hollywood career, but she was cast in April in an upcoming movie about New York crime boss John Gotti, alongside actors Al Pacino and John Travolta.

Michael Lohan's Weird Ultimatum to Lindsay

4/25/2010 8:51 AM PDT by TMZ Staff   Michael Lohan tells TMZ tomorrow is D-day for Lindsay Lohan -- either meet with him or he's going to court.  But the meeting now has a curious string attached.

Michael says he's been communicating with Lindsay since he went on TMZ Live last Thursday -- telling her he will not take legal action to protect Ali from Lindsay nor will he go to court for a Britney-like conservatorship IF she sits down with him face-to-face and hashes things out.

Here's the catch.  On TMZ Live, Michael said he wanted to sit with Lindsay and Ali -- just the three of them ... no one else.  Now he's telling us he wants to sit with Lindsay and his lawyer.  BUZZKILL.

Last Michael told us, he was hiring attorney Lisa Bloom -- a very good, very smart lawyer, and daughter of Gloria Allred.  Lisa also just happens to work for an entertainment TV show.

So why suddenly throw a high-profile lawyer in the middle of a father/daughter heart-to-heart?  And where's Ali Lohan in all of this?

Will Lindsay meet with Michael?  Will Michael go to the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services to get Ali out of Lindsay's clutches?  Will Michael try and become the 2010 version of Jamie Spears by becoming conservator/father of the year?  Will Michael leave town?  Will Michael go to Hyde tonight?

Stay tuned ...

Lindsay Lohan -- Dumped from Film

4/24/2010 1:00 AM PDT by TMZ Staff   Lindsay Lohan was axed from a movie because she's not "bankable" -- this according a source connected with the production of the flick.

Lindsay was slated to star in "The Other Side," a movie about a grad student working on a deserted island.

David Michaels, the writer/director, tells TMZ, "Our team simply chose to move on from Lindsay and we'll soon be announcing a replacement."

But sources connected with the film tell us the people financing the film were skittish about relying on Lindsay.

The movie also stars Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Dave Matthews and Alanis Morissette.

And there's this twist ... at one point Brittany Murphy was attached to the movie.

Lindsay's rep had no comment.

BTW -- Lindsay was out at Chateau Marmont and Trousdale last night. Photo of her leaving below. Not too difficult to understand where Mr. Michaels was coming from.
