We weren't surprised to see the likes of Justin Bieber, Ashton Kutcher and Lady Gaga listed for their sheer number of followers (they all boast more than 6 million), but leave Charlie Sheen off the list and prepare to suffer the consequences of the maniacal warlock.
And although he's holding on tight at the end of the list, Neil Patrick Harris is one to follow in Time's book and in ours. We're excited to see what kind of humor being a new dad brings to the actor, but we have a feeling he'll keep our Twitter eyes entertained whether he's writing about diapers or ... magic. "Harry Houdini was born on this day, 137 years ago. When using handcuffs or other restraints tonight, please do so in his honor," Harris tweeted recently.
As for our sharp-tongued brothers and sisters, get ready to click "Follow" on Chelsea Handler, Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert. This lady and these gents know how to keep the funny ball rolling, and they do it oh so well in 140 characters or less.
But aside from Charlie Sheen, who else was snubbed by Time's 'Best' list? Kim Kardashian is a Twitter giant -- she may not be the most eloquent of twits, but the girl has almost 7 million followers and gets paid the big bucks for simply tweeting what she's having for lunch, if said lunch happens to be at Carl's Jr., of course.
Another snub? Russell Brand. Now that he's married to one of the world's biggest pop stars, Katy Perry, Brand has had more Twitter ammo than ever, but was sadly left off Time's list. "When I was 'fun and fearless' I spent a lot of time smoking crack and getting arrested. Where was Cosmo then?" he recently tweeted about his Cosmo Magazine award for Fun Fearless Male.
So log on, start following and get your twit wit on.
