It’s definitely been a while since we’d had an installment in the seemingly endless drama that is the life of Paris Hilton, and so we weren’t terribly surprised to hear that everyone’s favourite heiress/serial engagement maker is currently being sued by a jewellery company.
Remember that enormous robbery at her LA estate in December 2008, when she was relieved of $2.8 million worth of bling? Well, last year police caught the burglary ring, which also targeted Megan Fox, Orlando Bloom and Lindsay Lohan (like Linds doesn’t have enough problems already!), and recovered most of the missing jewels. These were duly returned to Paris. But, according to German insurance firm Allianz, Paris then failed to give them back to owners Damiani, who she’d only borrowed them from in the first place.
Not only that, but it seems she isn’t very good at looking after other people’s property. According to the lawsuit Paris was meant to stash the goodies in a safe when not wearing them, but hadn’t bothered to. It claims, "On December 18, 2009, Ms Hilton left the front door to her mansion unlocked. Like the front door, Ms Hilton also left the safe unlocked that was supposed to be used to secure the loaned Damiani jewelry."
Apparently the thief strolled into the mansion, sweeping all the jewellery into a Vuitton handbag and walking off with it. No wonder Damiani are causing trouble. We get annoyed when people leave our diamonds lying around too.
