MTV sets dates for Video Music and Movie Awards (AP)

NEW YORK – MTV has set the dates for next year's MTV Movie and Video Music Awards.

The MTV Movie Awards will air live from Los Angeles on June 3.

After an August date in Los Angeles this year, the VMAs will move to Sept. 9. A host city hasn't been announced. The show will also air live on the network.

The announcement was made Thursday.

This year's VMAs drew an audience of 12.44 million people, which gave MTV its biggest audience since 1993.

Gregg Allman cancels dates for medical reasons (AP)

NEW YORK – Rock legend Gregg Allman has canceled tour dates from Aug. 26 to Sept. 15 because of a persistent illness.

A statement from Allman's publicist on Monday says the 63-year-old has an "upper respiratory condition" that will require several days of hospitalization and four to six weeks of bed rest.

Allman underwent a successful liver transplant last year and returned to the road just a few months later.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee canceled the final four dates of his recent European tour because of the same illness. Doctors had hoped the rest would resolve the ailment, but Allman remained sick.

Allman plans to reschedule the canceled dates and hopes to return to the road in late fall.

Lynn forced to cancel dates due to knee surgery (AP)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Loretta Lynn has been sidelined by knee surgery.

A statement says the country music icon will cancel dates through a Sept. 3 show at her ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

She is scheduled to undergo reconstructive knee surgery and needs time to recover. Lynn says in the statement she's "sad" to cancel the shows, "but they tell me I've just got to stay off this knee for a while."

Lynn recently returned to live performances with a show at the Grand Ole Opry after being forced to cancel shows in Ohio and Connecticut because she was hospitalized for heat exhaustion. The 76-year-old Country Music Hall of Fame member said she had spent too much time in her garden in extreme heat.

Lynn will try to reschedule her missed dates.

Laryngitis forces Adele to cancel U.S. tour dates (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Billboard) – British singer Adele has scrapped the remaining nine dates of her sold-out North American tour due to laryngitis.

She already had postponed five shows under doctor's orders following her recent diagnosis. While resting in Los Angeles, she met with an Otolaryngology specialist who determined it was imperative that she take the next few weeks to recover.

"I'm really frustrated. I was hoping with a week's rest I'd be better to sing again straight away," she said in a statement Friday. "However there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctor's advice and rest some more. I'm so sorry. See you soon, love Adele."

Plans to reschedule the canceled tour dates will be provided when available.

Adele cancels all remaining US tour dates (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – British singer Adele on Friday canceled all of the remaining dates on her sold-out North American tour dates because of laryngitis.

The singer's Columbia record label said she had been ordered to take a few weeks of voice rest after first postponing five dates being earlier this week.

She had hoped to resume the tour on June 4 in San Francisco.

"I'm really frustrated. I was hoping with a week's rest I'd be better to sing again straight away. However there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctor's advice and rest some more. I'm so sorry. See you soon, love Adele," the singer said in a statement.

Adele, 23, who won a best new artist Grammy in 2009, currently has the best selling album of the year in the United States with "21" and the hit single "Rolling in the Deep".

Columbia said plans to reschedule the canceled tour dates were underway but no information was yet available.

NEW YORK – British singer Adele has postponed five dates on her tour of North America due to laryngitis.

Columbia Records said in a statement Monday the 23-year-old Grammy winner was diagnosed last Thursday in Minneapolis, where doctors ordered immediate rest. Her show was canceled and rescheduled for June 22.

She performed in Denver on Saturday, but her show in Salt Lake City on Sunday was canceled at the last minute "when her illness worsened."

The tour will resume June 4 in San Francisco.

Performances in Seattle, Portland, Ore., and Vancouver, British Columbia, were also postponed and will be rescheduled.

Adele's new album, "21," has been at the top of the music charts in the U.S.
