President Obama lands in Los Angeles Monday (Reuters)

By Joshua L. Weinstein Joshua L. Weinstein – Mon Oct 24, 3:13 pm ET

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) – President Barack Obama returns to Los Angeles Monday, just in time for rush-hour, for two fundraisers in Hancock Park.

He'll spend the night in the area and tape a segment of "The Tonight Show" Tuesday morning.

Air Force One lands at Los Angeles International Airport around 4:45 p.m. Monday.

With the next election less than 13 months away, Obama has been heavily courting Hollywood lately, and he continues with Monday's visit.

The president's first stop is the Hancock Park home of James and Mai Lassiter, where he'll attend a fundraising dinner. Will and Jada Pinkett Smith will host that event.

Tickets are going for $35,800.

After that, the president heads to a Latino gala at the nearby home of Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas. Eva Longoria is hosting.

Tickets cost between $5,000 and $35,800.

Obama was in West Hollywood for a pair of fundraisers September 26. And he was in Culver City and Brentwood for fundraising events at Sony Pictures Studio and Tavern restaurant on April 21.

His last visit to Hancock Park, in August 2010, caused traffic havoc, with all lanes of Olympic Boulevard were closed.

Today's visit marks Obama's eighth visit to Los Angeles since taking office.

Former Godfather's Pizza CEO Herman Cain to run for president (Reuters)

ATLANTA (Reuters) – Herman Cain, a radio talk show host and former CEO of a chain of pizza parlors, announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for president on Saturday.

"We are going to take our country back," Cain, the former president and CEO of Godfather's Pizza, told thousands of supporters at Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park.

The 65-year-old has never held political office. He made an unsuccessful bid for Senate from Georgia in 2004.

He joins a field of at least six Republicans who have entered or are seriously considering the race for their party's nomination to challenge Democratic President Barack Obama in elections next year.

Though rated by most analysts as a longshot contender, Cain drew positive reviews for his performance at the first presidential debate in South Carolina earlier this month. His early involvement in the Tea Party movement could prove a strength.

At his announcement rally, Cain called for government spending cuts, lower taxes and energy independence, and for empowering states to help fight illegal immigration.

Under Obama, the U.S. economy has been stagnant and the number of people on food stamps has soared, Cain said.

"Hope and change ain't working," said Cain, who also criticized the president's new Middle East policy favoring a return to Israel's 1967 borders.

"You don't throw your friends under the bus," he said. "The Cain doctrine to the world would simply be, 'If you mess with Israel, you mess with the United States.'"

Cain worked as an executive at Coca-Cola, Pillsbury and Burger King before heading Godfather's Pizza. He also served as chairman, president and CEO of the National Restaurant Association.

More recently he has hosted his radio program, "The Herman Cain Show," broadcast out of Atlanta.

Joe Skender, a 60-year-old salesman from Roswell, Georgia, said he was impressed with Cain's speech and is not concerned that Cain has no experience as an elected official.

"He's smart, he knows the country. He's conservative. Little government, less spending, help businesses not hurt businesses," Skender said.

Added Skender's wife, Linda, "He doesn't owe anybody."

Donald Trump Congratulates President Obama on 'Great Victory'

In what may be seen as a grand gesture of mea culpa, Donald Trump took to Twitter to congratulate Barack Obama for his administration's victory in the takedown of Osama Bin Laden.

Although Trump's recent focus has been on Obama's origins, it seems as though Obama took his time in producing a copy of his birth certificate do to a slight preoccupation with a global endeavor -- capturing the man responsible for the events of September 11, 2001.

"I want to personally congratulate President Obama and the men women of the Armed Forces for a job very well done," Trump tweeted. "I am so proud to see Americans standing shoulder to shoulder, waving the American flag in celebration of this great victory."

"We should spend the next several days not debating party politics, but in remembrance of those who lost their lives on 9/11 and those fighting for our freedom," he continued. "God Bless America."

But Trump's validation of the president's efforts were given a backseat to the touting of his golf special -- "Don't forget to watch Donald J. Trump's Fabulous World of Golf---tonight at 9 pm" -- about which he tweeted just minutes before congratulating the president.

For a man who has become, for some, a serious potential contender in the 2012 presidential election, it seems as though his priorities are a bit out of whack.
