Hugh Dancy to star in Broadway's 'Venus in Fur' (AP)

NEW YORK – Hugh Dancy has been tapped to star opposite Nina Arianda when "Venus in Fur" hits Broadway.

Producers said Monday that Dancy will be in Manhattan Theatre Club's production playing a playwright. He has appeared in HBO's "Elizabeth I" and Showtime's "The Big C."

Performances begin Oct. 13 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on 47th Street. The show will run until Dec. 18. The play by David Ives made its world premiere off-Broadway in January 2010.

In the play, an actress' audition for a new play based on an erotic novel gets emotional and kinky.

Dancy made his Broadway debut in the 2008 Tony-winning revival of "Journey's End." He returned to the New York stage in the 2009 production of "The Pride." He is married to actress Claire Danes.

Broadway's 'Driving Miss Daisy' to go to London (AP)

NEW YORK – Will James Earl Jones be driving on the other side of the road?

Producers of "Driving Miss Daisy" said Monday that Jones, Vanessa Redgrave and Boyd Gaines will reprise their Broadway roles when the production shifts to London this fall.

The play will begin performances at Wyndham's Theatre from Sept. 26 through Dec. 17, with an opening night scheduled for Oct. 5. David Esbjornson, who directed the Broadway production, will again direct.

The play centers on a Jewish widow and her deepening friendship with her black chauffeur. The Broadway production was a virtual sell-out, was extended and earned back its investment.

Redgrave earned a Tony Award nomination in the role. Jones will play a former U.S. president in a revival of "Gore Vidal's The Best Man" on Broadway next spring.

Kara DioGuardi to star in Broadway's 'Chicago' (AP)

NEW YORK – Kara DioGuardi is about to make her Broadway stage debut as a merry murderess.

The songwriter and former "American Idol" judge is the latest celebrity to step into the role of Roxie Hart in the Tony Award-winning revival of "Chicago."

DioGuardi is now the head judge on Bravo's "Platinum Hit." She will be in the show for eight weeks beginning Sept. 5.

"Chicago" is now the fifth longest-running production in Broadway history. It debuted in 1996.

Other big names have played Roxie including Christie Brinkley, Brooke Shields, Sandy Duncan, Marilu Henner, Bebe Neuwirth, Ashlee Simpson, Michelle Williams and Melanie Griffith.
