'You'll Be Very Happy' With The 'Vampire Diaries' Finale

"The Vampire Diaries" finale is almost here and according to the stars of The CW's hit series, you won't be disappointed. Arielle Kebbel, who's recurred as Lexi since Season 1, returned in the penultimate episode, along with many other late supernatural characters on the series after Bonnie (Kat Graham) dropped the veil, leading virtually every hunter, vampire, werewolf, etc. who has died in the course of the series to return to Mystic Falls and seemingly, leaving Bonnie dead.

Though there have been plenty of tears shed -- amongst cast members and fans -- throughout the fourth season of "The Vampire Diaries," the finale will leave you smiling. "I think you guys are going to love it," Kebbel told The Huffington Post at The CW 2013 upfront red carpet on Thursday. "You'll be sad because it's over 'til next season, but I think you'll be very happy."

Also among the back-from-the-dead characters is vampire hunter Alexander (Paul Telfer), the former boyfriend of original vampire Rebekah (Claire Holt), who reappeared at the end of the penultimate episode of "The Vampire Diaries." "He really is a soft spot for Rebekah," Holt told The Huffington Post at The CW 2013 upfront. "She really loved him, he betrayed her and I think seeing him is really overwhelming for her. But then, everyone has their agendas and motives so she may not have as romantic feelings for him as she used to."

One person Rebekah does have feelings for, however, is Matt (Zach Roerig). And in a short promo for "The Vampire Diaries" finale, Rebekah kisses him. "She's been gunning for that one," Holt said of Rebekah's feelings for Matt, the only human left among the show's central characters. "I think he's gonna be a little shocked. She really goes for it. She goes after what she wants, which you have to admire. But I think the resolution's going to be really satisfying for the fans, whether it leads to anything or not."

One thing fans know about "The Vampire Diaries" finale is that someone will take the cure. Holt hinted that it's not Rebekah, but not for lack of trying. "I think she's come to terms with the fact that she doesn't need [the cure]," the actress said. "She's learning that that's not in the cards for her and she's OK with that."

Our guess would be that not only does Rebekah not get the cure, but she also doesn't get Matt since we know Holt has signed on for "The Vampire Diaries" spinoff, "The Originals," which is set in New Orleans. At the end of the backdoor pilot, which aired in April, Rebekah was still resisting the move The Big Easy.

"Actually, you know, I don't know what's going to lead her to New Orleans," Holt admitted. "That hasn't really been discussed yet. I think we'll learn at the beginning of the next season how Rebekah makes the transition to the new show."

And though Rebekah will make her way to New Orleans at some point in Season 5, it won't be the end of her time on "The Vampire Diaries." "I think there's potential for a decent amount [of crossover]," Holt told The Huffington Post. "I don't know how much. I don't know what the story will allow, but I know Julie [Plec, 'The Vampire Diaries'' showrunner] has definitely left the door open for that."

Thus far, there's only one blonde on "The Originals" and that's bartender/psychology student Cami (Leah Pipes). "I'm nervous for Cami being the only human. She doesn't have any superpowers. How is she going to survive?," Pipes told The Huffington Post at The CW 2013 upfront. When reminded that one of Mystic Falls's only remaining humans Matt has survived for four seasons, she said, "Matt's gotten into some trouble. He's teetered the edge a couple times. Many times! So I hope that she survives. That's what I hope for her."

Pipe continued, "I really hope that she gets to maintain her belief system that everyone is good. And I hope that her beliefs become a little infectious and everyone sees the good in each other because everyone is at each other's throats right now. Literally at each other's throats! Pun intended."

Despite Pipe's wish, actress Daniella Pineda (Sophie) says things are going to get bloody if her character has anything to say about it. The New Orleans witch, whose sister Jane-Anne died in the pilot, wants Klaus (Joseph Morgan) to infiltrate Marcel's (Charles Michael Davis) inner circle and take down the vampire that has taken it upon himself to run the Louisiana city, forbidding witches from practicing.

"She's someone who I think is very emotional, but strong -- no BS," Pineda told The Huffington Post at The CW upfront. "She's not really like the pretty girl or the hot girl on the show. I think she's more the thinker and she's the strategist and a little more like a badass, rebellious politician almost. She's absolutely no nonsense ... I think she always [had a vendetta against Marcel] because of the witches and because her people have been unhappy for so long and Jane-Anne just put it right over the edge and now she wants him dead. She's out for blood -- vampire blood!"

One character fans didn't see in "The Originals" backdoor pilot is Davina (Danielle Campbell), the only witch in town that Marcel seems to like. "I'm not allowed to give too much away, but there are a lot of surprises coming up with her ... [Davina and Marcel] have a relationship that you guys are going to be very shocked by," Campbell told The Huffington Post at The CW upfront. "I did film the pilot, but my character, she puts way too many questions for 'The Vampire Diaries' to answer, so I'm going to be premiering with our 'Originals' season. So I'm excited!"

The pilot that will air in the fall (Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW) will likely include Davina and some other scenes that are new to fans, which didn't appear during the backdoor airing. "I think there's a different version of it for 'The Originals' that is less about 'The Vampire Diaries' and more about the new characters," Holt said.

"The Vampire Diaries" finale airs Thursday, May 16 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
