Sharpe star Sean Bean has revealed he has finally given up on marriage after going through four divorces.
The 52-year-old actor said in an interview that while he still believes in love, he won't be walking down the aisle for a fifth time.
He told Croatian magazine Gloria: 'Of course I believe in love despite four divorces. There is nobody who doesn't believe in love. But marriage - that fits some people but obviously not me.'
The Lord of the Rings actor announced in December that he and his fourth wife Georgina Sutcliffe had divorced after a stormy four-year relationship.
When he was just 21, he married his first wife Debra, a hairdresser. The marriage didn't last long after he moved to London a short time later to study at RADA and fell in love with fellow student Melanie Hill.
Hill, whose own cinematic achievements include Bread, Brassed Off and the 2007 hit Stardust, became his second wife in 1990 and the couple had two daughters together - Lorna and Molly.
This second marriage lasted just seven years. Soon after their split, Bean confirmed he was dating actress Abigail Cruttenden, who he met on the set of ITV series Sharpe.
The couple married in November 1997 and their daughter Evie was born the following year. Sadly, they split when Evie was only a few months old.
So by this point Sean Bean was 42 years old with three ex-wives and three daughters. Now at 52 he is divorced again and despite the fact that he has spent a total of 21 years ofhis life married, he still believes he is better off as a single man.
Bean also told the magazine than rather than worrying about his love life, he would rather relax gardening at his home in Yorkshire.
He said: 'I love doing just nothing in my free time. I love to be with my kid in Yorkshire. I love it there. Working in a garden calms me down.'
Bean’s latest acting role is in HBO’s Game of Thrones, which is being shown on Sky Atlantic with record viewing figures.
