Comic-Con readies for 'Cowboys & Aliens' premiere (AP)

By SANDY COHEN, AP Entertainment Writer Sandy Cohen, Ap Entertainment Writer – Sun Jul 24, 12:03 am ET

SAN DIEGO – The star-studded "Cowboys & Aliens" cast walked the red carpet in San Diego on Saturday, giving Comic-Con its first Hollywood-style movie premiere.

Fans lined up in front of the San Diego Civic Theatre to see the sci-fi Western's starring actors, who include Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell and Keith Carradine. The film's director, Jon Favreau, and producers Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer also were at the premiere.

Rockwell called the mash-up of film genres "a total 8-year-old's fantasy."

Hundreds of Comic-Con attendees followed clues texted to their cell phones to win tickets to the event.

"This kind of overshadows Comic-Con," said 22-year-old Khalil Tiner of Las Vegas, a six-year veteran of the fan festival. "This is something new, and it's exciting."

Wendy Lee of Los Angeles and Chris Saguisag of San Francisco, both 44, said they enjoyed dashing around town trying to win tickets.

"We got a lot of cardio running after the bricks" that contained a chance to attend the premiere, Lee said. "It's something we worked for really hard."

The couple was in line hours ahead of the scheduled 8 p.m. showing, but they didn't mind missing the colorful happenings inside the San Diego Convention Center.

"We already saw everything we wanted to see," Lee said.

Favreau said he wanted to unveil his sci-fi Western at Comic-Con to thank conventioneers for their support of the films he introduced there in previous years, including his two "Iron Man" movies.

Favreau showed early footage from "Cowboys & Aliens" during a Comic-Con panel last year, whetting fans' appetites for the film, and he invited them to be a part of the premiere to "see what that part of the equation is like."

"They generally don't get to experience that part of it," he said. "That's more of a Hollywood thing."

The film opens in theaters on Friday.

Flo Rida readies sequel to "Only One Flo" (Reuters)

DETROIT (Billboard) – Flo Rida promises that he'll be dropping his next album -- "Only One Rida (Part 2)," the sequel to 2010's "Only One Flo (Part 1)" -- "before the summer."

"I have a lot of songs," the rapper reported to Billboard.com. "Even when I was working on 'Only One Flo,' I had more than enough songs. Right now it's about going in the box and picking out what I think are the hardest records. For the most part I'm just staying in the studio, on top of touring. I'm on planes recording on my iPhone, things like that, and just basically focusing on the album."

No release date has been set, but he's hoping to bring it sooner rather than later because "the fans are intrigued. They're hitting me up on all the social sites -- Twitter, Facebook, my own web page -- which I'm really happy about."

Flo Rida said he's been thinking about the two-part album concept "prior to me even putting out my first album" in 2008, and he acknowledged it's a bit of a gimmick. "Having my name broken into two parts, Flo and Rida, I was thinking it would be great to do a double disc or something of that nature," he explained. "But instead of just putting the double disc together, my business partners and I decided we could just put out one part, which would be 'Only One Flo,' and then we could put out 'Only One Rida' later -- basically just the whole cleverness of the name."

"Only One Flo" is currently on its third single, "Who Dat Girl" with Akon, while Flo Rida is also part of David Guetta's new smash, "Where Them Girls At" with Nicki Minaj. As for who will feature on "Only One Rida," he said with a laugh that, "I know you'll have Flo Rida on there. Other than that, I'm not sure right now. That'll be something spur of the moment. I look forward to doing another record with David and another record with Nicki. I'm sure I will, but I don't know if it will be for ('Only One Rida') or not."
