Angelina Jolie dismisses talk of marriage, babies (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Angelina Jolie has dismissed ongoing speculation about marriage and more kids with her partner Brad Pitt, telling Vanity Fair in an interview published on Tuesday that there are "no secret wedding plans."

The Oscar-winning actress revealed details of her upcoming wartime romance film, "In the Land of Blood and Honey," which she directed. She told Vanity Fair magazine that she feared stepping behind the camera for the first time.

"I've never felt more exposed. My whole career, I've hidden behind other people's words," Jolie said. "Now it's me talking. You feel ridiculous when you get something wrong."

The actress, who penned the script during a two day quarantine period when she had the flu, said she had Pitt read it over first. "He called and said, 'You know, honey, it's not that bad,'" Jolie told the magazine.

The story follows a couple's love affair during the Bosnian war, and Jolie made sure to get the script as accurate as possible by sending it to reporters and writers of Serbian and Bosnian nationalities who had experienced the war.

"I was gauging the accuracy...If they said no, I wouldn't have done it," she said.

But the movie did cause controversy last year when the leader of a woman's group in Sarajevo urged city officials to ban shooting the film in Bosnia. She complained that the love story was offensive because it was between a Bosnian woman and Serbian man.

At the time, Jolie said she hoped people would withhold any judgment until that had seen the film, which is expected to hit theaters in December of this year.

The "Salt" actress told Vanity Fair that she took the helm as director because the script "was something I didn't trust out of my hands." And she revealed how directing the film changed the way she perceived acting.

"Brad thinks I'm going to be a nightmare," joked Jolie, who won her Oscar for supporting actress in "Girl, Interrupted."

"I had such a good experience he thinks I'm going to be impatient with directors, which I already am. I get impatient with people working on a film that have their head in their hands like it's the most complicated thing in the world."

She said Pitt was very supportive of the film and offered suggestions, but she wasn't sure he was the best person from whom to take advice.

"He'd come in and say what he liked or what he didn't understand. Like any woman, I would listen to most of it and fight a few things. He's been so supportive. But it's hard to separate the person that loves you from the critic, so I don't think he's a fair judge."

Jolie cast many unknown actors in the film, which she felt was important for authenticity.

"It couldn't be anyone else. It's their story. It was important that they were willing to do it. If none of them were willing, I wouldn't have made it," said the actress.

And as for its ultimate success or failure, Jolie leaves it up to the audience to decide, hopefully in a good debate.

"People will judge for themselves. I think if you make a good movie people will walk away arguing," she said.

Eric Benet celebrates new marriage, and film (AP)

PHILADELPHIA – Eric Benet has had a few minor acting roles ("Glitter," anyone?), but typically, they didn't require too much heavy lifting on his part.

So when he was offered the lead as a single father of a young girl for the new GMC film "Trinity Goodheart," Benet knew he had to get serious, even though the movie had parallels to his own life. (He raised his 19-year-old daughter as a single dad after her mother passed away.)

"This was the first time when I did more than just memorize my lines. This was the first time that I actually worked with an acting coach. Some of the scenes in `Trinity Goodheart' called for emotional moments," he said during a recent interview. "I really wanted those emotions to ring true."

The movie is about a girl who tries to bring both sides of her family together after years of fighting. In real life, Benet, 40, is experiencing familial bliss: He recently married longtime girlfriend Manuela Testolini, and beams with pride over his daughter India, a budding singer who attends the University of Southern California. He says he's also looking forward to becoming a new father.

In a recent interview, Benet — who wed on July 31 and postponed his honeymoon to promote the movie — talked about the film, which debuts Saturday, and his new marriage.

AP: This movie seems like it's close to your life. Did that attract you to the role?

Benet: This was my first time doing a male lead in a movie. It would ease my burden of trying to carry a movie if I had a script that was so similar to my life and my life experiences. It was one of the aspects of the movie that really attracted me, and the other aspect was how it was so beautifully written. ... It just all resonated really strongly for me.

AP: How do you think you've grown as an actor?

Benet: I don't know what kind of grade to give myself, but I can grade how I feel about the job that I did when I see it. It feels like an honest portrayal and one of the things I feel like, to portray a convincing role in acting, is you have to build layers to a character. So some of the things I did with my acting coach was just that. We had to create a whole back story to this character that isn't necessarily in the script. ... There were some emotional places that I needed to get to, and this is all very new to me.

AP: What's next for you in acting?

Benet: This was such an enjoyable experience, and it's being received very well. (But) ... I got my day gig. I'm going to keep making music. ... I can just take my time and pick the things that really resonate strongly with me, that I would really like to sink my teeth into.

AP: This is your second marriage (he famously wed and divorced Halle Berry). What have you learned?

Benet: Marriage is one of those things, like having a baby. You may think you're ready, but nobody is really completely ready for everything that it's gonna bring to the table, and I just feel like I'm so much wiser and more attentive and more communicative about what's going on with me emotionally than I was 10 years ago, and so far in my relationship with my wife, it's been like night and day.

AP: You both have famous exes (his wife was previously married to Prince). With your new marriage, do you try harder to keep it out of the public eye because of that?

Benet: I think primarily we just want to make it about she and I, and the exes never factor into the equation. It's all about us and as little as we possibly can share, keep our private as private as we possibly can.

Monaco's Prince Albert slams marriage 'rumours' (AFP)

MONACO (AFP) – Prince Albert II of Monaco has summoned journalists to castigate them for publishing "rumours" about his new marriage to Princess Charlene, saying someone in Monaco wants to cause trouble.

"We want to express our indignation at these rumours," Albert, 53, told journalists from three local newspapers he called to the palace over stories about his marriage to South African Charlene Wittstock, 33.

"It's unbearable," Nice-Matin's Thursday edition quoted the prince as saying.

"What's regrettable is that the media pick up these rumours without verifying the information," said the prince, who married the former swimming champion at a lavish ceremony in July amid swirling rumours of a rift.

"I find that unworthy on the part of your colleagues. I've always respected freedom of expression. But publishing false information is lamentable and subject to criminal penalties.

"Sometimes these rumours make us smile, for example when the media reported that the princess and I did not sleep in the same hotel in South Africa. That was for obvious practical reasons."

Albert said that the couple managed to "escape the paparazzi" by holidaying in Mozambique from July 9-20. It was "a marvellous stay. We weren't disturbed," he said.

"There's one or more people in Monaco who are trying to cause harm," the prince said, declining to give any names.

Monaco royals invite subjects to populist marriage (AFP)

MONACO (AFP) – Monaco's medieval royal house threw open its princely marriage to the tiny Mediterranean realm's tax-shy denizens on Friday as the ruling Grimaldi clan prepared to welcome a glamorous new member.

Balding sports administrator Prince Albert II, 53, was to marry South African swimming champ Charlene Wittstock in a ceremony heralded by a late night rock concert by Californian nostalgia rockers The Eagles.

On the eve of the ceremony, the happy couple joined a 15,000-strong crowd of their subjects and residents of their low-tax municipality to cheer the 1970s band at the stadium of Monaco's recently relegated football team.

They may have made the appearance to lay to rest persistent rumours that the statuesque 33-year-old blonde athlete has cold feet about going through with the marriage, but they appeared to share the joy of the crowd.

A smiling Charlene, who already appeared relaxed and content earlier on Thursday when she arrived for a wedding rehearsal, even tried out some dance steps with His Most Serene Highness as the fans cheered.

Charlene showed off her swimmer's shoulders in a black bustier, despite reports that she is seeking to modify her exercise routine to achieve a more classically elegant shape, and Albert wore a dark jacket.

The Eagles played their standout 1976 hit "Hotel California" early in their set, but kept the crowd amused by dedicating "Love will keep us alive" to host Albert, a former playboy who has kept Monaco waiting for a bride.

Charlene, meanwhile, was due to become "Princess of Monaco" shortly after 5.00pm (1500 GMT) Friday, when Philippe Narmino, Monaco's top legal official and president of the state council, pronounces the couple man and wife.

Late Friday the entire enclave will resound to the pulsing electropop of 63-year-old French showman Jean-Michel Jarre, then on Saturday the couple will wed again in a Catholic ceremony attended by celebrity guests.

The plan is not just to rejuvenate the seven-century-old Monegasque brand of the Grimaldi family, which runs a principality that has grown rich on offshore banking, tourism and casino receipts, but also to cheer its subjects,

This communication strategy seemed to hit a snag this week when French media reported rumours that Charlene had learned a new dark secret about her former playboy husband and had tried to flee back to South Africa.

The palace firmly denied the reports, as did Charlene's family, including her father Mike, who is in Monaco for the wedding. The Monaco public, while relishing the gossip, appeared unperturbed as the ceremony approached.

"I'll let the music run its course," said an 86-year-old local who still remembers the 1956 nuptials of Albert's father Rainier and Hollywood siren Grace Kelly. "It's a happy day. Monaco has seen enough grief."

But, reflecting the view of many who talked to AFP, he also moved quickly onto the next big question: "The important thing is that there be an heir."

Albert has illegitimate children with two other women but has yet to produce a royal heir, a matter of some concern to Monaco constitutionalists, who fear instability should the throne revert to his sister Caroline.

Since the 13th century, Monaco has been run by the Grimaldi family, the crown passing through the male line. In 2002, fearing Albert would die without an heir, Monaco changed its constitution to allow a princess to inherit.

If Albert should die in the absence of any heir, Monaco would become a French protectorate, and might lose its lucrative tax-free status.

Albert's mother, US film star Grace Kelly turned Princess Grace, died in a car crash in 1982. Her daughter Caroline lost her second husband Stefano Casiraghi in a 1990 motorboat accident.

The other royal sister, Princess Stephanie, has also been unlucky in love, in the words of Wednesday's edition of Le Parisien "marrying almost as often as she falls in love" and finding herself betrayed by her bodyguard lover.

HDNet orders open marriage, celebrity dating shows (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Mark Cuban's HDNet has ordered four new series featuring famous singles, open marriage and a multifaceted landlord for the fall.

"We are fiercely independent at HDNet, and our programing will continue to push the limits of what TV can be," said the HDNet chairman and co-founder, noting that the network can take the kind of chances that "major media companies are afraid to take."

The new offerings, all nonscripted, include "Celebridate," "Mr. Personalities Takes on the World," "The Ferris Wheel" and "The Super." They will join a schedule that already has plans to offer a live broadcast of a Jefferson Starship concert June 5 and live footage of Mixed Martial Arts fights throughout the summer.

"Celebridate" centers on Roger Lodge, who spent seven years setting up singles on "Blind Date." Now, he's bringing his match-making prowess to the famous, and infamous. Among the name dates: Dean Cain ("Superman") and Tracey Bingham ("Baywatch").

"Mr. Personalities Takes on the World" follows comedian Ben Morrison ("Punk'd") as he travels the festival circuit (think the Renaissance Fair) assuming the part of different characters.

"The Ferris Wheel" revolves around Jeremy and Kate Ferris, a "sex crazed" couple who let cameras in on its open marriage. He is a non-working millionaire; she's a barely out of college swimsuit model. Together the duo gallivant about the world.

Finally, "The Super" chronicles the daily duties of Dave Paladino, who manages more than 1,700 units. He serves as a landlord, manager, security guard, plumber, carpenter, psychologist and social worker, who witnesses everything from crack heads to bathtub births.

Arnie admits lovechild triggered marriage split (AFP)

LOS ANGELES (AFP) – Movie megastar and former US governor Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted Tuesday to fathering a lovechild with a member of his household staff, triggering the breakup of his 25-year marriage.

His wife Maria Shriver, a member of the Kennedy political dynasty, reacted by asking for privacy during a "painful and heartbreaking time."

Schwarzenegger and Shriver announced their separation last week, four months after the former champion bodybuilder and "Terminator" star left office as California governor.

"After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago," Schwarzenegger, 63, said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times.

"I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused.

"I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry."

After initially declining to comment to the newspaper on her husband's announcement, Shriver issued a statement asking for privacy.

"This is a painful and heartbreaking time. As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal," she said.

The 55-year-old, a daughter of the storied Kennedy clan, moved out of the couple's Brentwood mansion earlier this year after Schwarzenegger admitted paternity.

The Times did not give the name of the woman or her child to protect their privacy, but said she retired in January of this year after working for the couple for 20 years.

"I wanted to achieve my 20 years, then I asked to retire," the paper quoted her as saying, adding that she received a severance payment and "left on good terms" with Schwarzenegger and Shriver.

The newspaper quoted a source as saying that Schwarzenegger had taken financial responsibility from the start and was still supporting the child.

He and Shriver said earlier this month that they were separating after 25 years of marriage to take time to "work on the future" of their relationship.

The couple, who met in 1977 and married in 1986, have four children, aged between 14 and 21.

Their marriage had come under the spotlight through the years, notably amid reports of his history of groping women during campaigning for the 2003 recall election which Schwarzenegger won, the LA Times reported.

Shriver, a former TV journalist, defended him at the time, and has stood by his side during his seven years at the helm of the Golden State, a term that ended when Jerry Brown succeeded him four months ago.

Austrian-born Schwarzenegger, star of the "Terminator" blockbusters, had started to return to show business since he stepped down as governor, with plans for a "Governator" comic book and animated TV show.

He has vowed to pursue his political passions -- notably on the environment -- fueling rumors than he could even run to be the next president of the European Union.

In his statement, Schwarzenegger too called for privacy, asking the media to "respect my wife and children through this extremely difficult time."

"While I deserve your attention and criticism, my family does not," he said.

Schwarzenegger's bombshell revelation has prompted reaction among at least one gubernatorial peer.

Former Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm, the state's first woman governor who now teaches in California, posted a message Tuesday on Twitter blasting Schwarzenegger for his infidelity.

"Another guy guv admits 2 cheating on his wife. Maybe we need more women governors," she tweeted.

"Guys: keep ur pants zipped, for Pete's sake."

Schwarzenegger fathered child outside marriage (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES/SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has acknowledged that he fathered a child more than 10 years ago with a member of his household staff.

The revelation came a week after Schwarzenegger, the Austrian-born former bodybuilder turned Hollywood actor, and his wife, Maria Shriver, a veteran broadcast journalist and daughter of the Kennedy political dynasty, jointly announced their split after 25 years of marriage and four children.

"After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago," Schwarzenegger said in replying to the Times. A Schwarzenegger spokesman later gave a copy of the statement to Reuters.

"I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses, and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry," Schwarzenegger, 63, said in the statement.

Shriver, 55, in a statement to People magazine released on Tuesday, asked for compassion and privacy.

"This is a painful and heartbreaking time," she said. "As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal. I will have no further comment."

As one of the most high-profile but improbable couples in American public life -- a powerful Republican politician and a stalwart Democrat -- the pair endured years of persistent allegations about Schwarzenegger's extramarital dalliances and sexual misconduct.

SHRIVER HELPED GUBERNATORIAL CAREER

Shriver was widely credited with saving Schwarzenegger's successful 2003 gubernatorial campaign by steadfastly standing by her husband amid a swirl of media accounts at the time reporting on his history of groping other women.

In announcing their marital separation last Monday, Schwarzenegger and Shriver said they "came to this decision together" but gave no reason for the split.

Schwarzenegger, limited by state law to two terms as governor, declared his intention to return to show business a month after leaving office.

But Shriver, forced to give up her NBC News career while acting as California's first lady, recently posted a video message to supporters on YouTube lamenting that she found it "stressful to not know what you're doing next." Her parents both died during the past two years.

Her mother, Eunice Kennedy, was the sister of assassinated U.S. President John F. Kennedy, and her father, Sargent Shriver, was the first director of the Peace Corps and the 1972 Democratic nominee for vice president.

Neither the woman involved with Schwarzenegger nor her child was identified by the Times. However, when contacted by the newspaper on Monday before the ex-governor issued his statement, she said she had retired in January after 20 years of working with the family. She told the newspaper her then-husband was the child's father.

Later Monday, the woman had no comment when the newspaper informed her of Schwarzenegger's statement.

Although a staunch Democrat, Shriver campaigned actively for her Republican husband when he sought to recall and replace then-Governor Gray Davis, a Democrat, in 2003, and again when Schwarzenegger won reelection in 2006. Many analysts credited her with rescuing his early political career.

A key turning point in the 2003 campaign came when she appeared with him in October of that year at a hastily called news conference to deflect allegations from numerous women published that day in the Los Angeles Times claiming he had sexually harassed them.

Schwarzenegger acknowledged then that he had "misbehaved" and apologized "to the people I've offended," adding, "what was once considered playful behavior on a movie set is now considered something else."

All that would have occurred roughly two years after Schwarzenegger already had fathered a child out of wedlock, according to his own decade-plus timeline.

He and Shriver last week said they would continue to parent their four children together and were living separately while they worked on their relationship.

Charlie Sheen -- Marriage in Limbo

4/23/2010 4:38 PM PDT by TMZ Staff   Charlie Sheen's marriage to Brooke Mueller is on life support, but Brooke has not decided to move out of the house or end the marriage ... at least not yet.

"Brooke is absolutely frickin' ballistic that he is seeing this hooker while she is working on the marriage," a source very, very close to the situation tells TMZ.

Photos surfaced last week of Charlie wearing a disguise and allegedly leaving a high-end hooker's apartment, something Charlie's rep denies.

Several magazines are reporting that Brooke has moved out of the house and the couple is splitting, but we're told that hasn't happened. One source says, "Brooke's stuff is still at the house.  She spent the last two days living at a spa, but she hasn't moved out and she hasn't split with Charlie."

The source adds, "She's absolutely crazed that her children's father would shave his head, put on a disguise, wearing pajama bottoms and come out of a hooker's house so that some day his children will see this."

Brooke is telling people, "I've had it" -- but we're told she had not decided to leave Charlie. They are still talking and texting multiple times a day.

Sean Bean swears off marriage after fourth divorce

Sharpe star Sean Bean has revealed he has finally given up on marriage after going through four divorces.

The 52-year-old actor said in an interview that while he still believes in love, he won't be walking down the aisle for a fifth time.

He told Croatian magazine Gloria: 'Of course I believe in love despite four divorces. There is nobody who doesn't believe in love. But marriage - that fits some people but obviously not me.'

The Lord of the Rings actor announced in December that he and his fourth wife Georgina Sutcliffe had divorced after a stormy four-year relationship.

When he was just 21, he married his first wife Debra, a hairdresser. The marriage didn't last long after he moved to London a short time later to study at RADA and fell in love with fellow student Melanie Hill.

Hill, whose own cinematic achievements include Bread, Brassed Off and the 2007 hit Stardust, became his second wife in 1990 and the couple had two daughters together - Lorna and Molly.

This second marriage lasted just seven years. Soon after their split, Bean confirmed he was dating actress Abigail Cruttenden, who he met on the set of ITV series Sharpe.

The couple married in November 1997 and their daughter Evie was born the following year. Sadly, they split when Evie was only a few months old.

So by this point Sean Bean was 42 years old with three ex-wives and three daughters. Now at 52 he is divorced again and despite the fact that he has spent a total of 21 years ofhis life married, he still believes he is better off as a single man.

Bean also told the magazine than rather than worrying about his love life, he would rather relax gardening at his home in Yorkshire.

He said: 'I love doing just nothing in my free time. I love to be with my kid in Yorkshire. I love it there. Working in a garden calms me down.'

Bean’s latest acting role is in HBO’s Game of Thrones, which is being shown on Sky Atlantic with record viewing figures.
