LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Reality star Kim Kardashian married basketball player Kris Humphries on Saturday in a lavish made-for-TV wedding following a whirlwind courtship.

Kardashian, 30, one of the highest-earning reality TV stars, and New Jersey Nets player Humphries, 26, exchanged vows in a ceremony on a private estate in the Southern California hill town of Montecito, her spokeswoman told People magazine and E! television.

People magazine bought exclusive rights to the wedding, which is also being filmed as a two-part special called "Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event" to be broadcast in October on E! television.

Kardashian, who stars with her two sisters and their mother in "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," began dating Humphries in late 2010 and he proposed in May with a whopping 20.5 carat diamond ring.

The family and U.S. celebrity media have since talked and tweeted about little else than preparations for the wedding. The 440 guests on Saturday included "Desperate Housewives" actress Eva Longoria and Lindsay Lohan, People said.

Kardashian wore an ivory, lace-trimmed gown designed by Vera Wang, People said. She is widely reported to have wanted her cake in the same style as Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton, who married in April.

Kardashian is thought to be the highest-paid reality star on U.S. television with 2010 earnings estimated at $6 million from the show and its two spinoffs, her clothing line, perfume, jewelry, tanning cream and other product endorsements and paid appearances.

Saturday's wedding was the first for Humphries and the second for Kardashian, whose 2000 marriage to music producer Damon Thomas ended in divorce in 2004 -- three years before "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" started its TV run.

Kim Kardashian is the daughter of the late attorney Robert Kardashian, a member of the legal defense team for football player O.J. Simpson during his trial and sensational acquittal on murder charges in 1995.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Kris Humphries has officially caught up with Kim Kardashian. The basketball pro and the reality star are husband and wife.

Kardashian, 30, and Humphries, 26, tied the knot Saturday night in the exclusive Montecito area near Santa Barbara, Calif., Kardashian publicist Jill Fritzo told People magazine and E!

The ceremony will be televised as a two-part special on E! in October.

It is the first marriage for Humphries, who last played for the NBA's New Jersey Nets, and the second for Kardashian, star of E!'s "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." She was married to music producer Damon Thomas from 2000 to 2004.

People and E! reported Kardashian wore an ivory gown designed by Vera Wang. Her stepfather, Bruce Jenner, walked her down the aisle in front of 440 guests, including Demi Lovato, Mario Lopez, Eva Longoria, Sugar Ray Leonard, Alan Thicke and Lindsay Lohan.

Kardashian's gown had a tulle skirt, basque waist and Chantilly lace, and was matched with a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, the media outlets reported. The bride planned to wear two other Wang dresses before the night and the party were over.

Her sisters and TV co-stars Kourtney Kardashian, 32, and Khloe Kardashian, 27, served as co-maids of honor.

The groom wore a white peak lapel tuxedo jacket, black tuxedo pants and, a white shirt and a white bow tie, all designed by Ermenegildo Zegna.

Kardashian and Humphries began dating late last year and announced their engagement in May. He proposed on bended knee with a 20.5-carat ring by spelling out "Will you marry me?" in rose petals.

Since the couple's engagement, the pending nuptials have provided constant fodder for the media and the Kardashians, who posted updates about the wedding on their blogs and websites.

The waves of hype that preceded the ceremony didn't seem to faze the bride. Earlier this week, Kardashian said she was "totally calm" about the much-hyped ceremony.

"I think that freak-out moment kind of already passed," she said at a party Wednesday to launch her new clothing line at Sears.

NEW YORK – Another hoops star will join the Kardashian clan.

People magazine reported Wednesday that reality star Kim Kardashian is engaged to her boyfriend of six months, New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries. Sister Khloe Kardashian and Los Angeles Laker Lamar Odom were married in 2009.

Kim Kardashian told People that she was in "shock" when she entered her Beverly Hills, Calif., home last week to discover Humphries on bended knee with "will you marry me" spelled out in rose petals.

Humphries, 26, gave Kardashian, 30, a 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring.

The family stars in the E! reality show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and spinoffs, including "Khloe and Lamar."
