Kennedy Gives Endorsement In Key Senate Race

Caroline Kennedy -- author, attorney and daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy -- endorsed Rep. Ed Markey (D) in the race to fill Secretary of State John Kerry's former senate seat, the Boston Globe reports.

The Boston Globe's Matt Viser tweeted the news Saturday:

In a statement announcing the endorsement, Markey said he "is so proud" to have Kennedy's support.

Markey will face off with Rep. Stephen Lynch in a Democratic primary on Tuesday. Public Policy Polling recently found Markey leading that race by 14 points.

Markey has been endorsed by former Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), the Boston Globe and The Republican. The Democrat recently touted a list of 100 Democratic politicians who were backing his senate run, though several later disputed reports they had given a formal endorsement.
