One NBC affiliate isn't into "Hannibal."
On Monday, KSL TV in Utah announced via Facebook that it was pulling the Bryan Fuller series from its lineup due to to the "extensive graphic nature" of the show. Read the full statement below:
PROGRAMMING NOTE: After viewing the past few episodes, as well as receiving numerous complaints from viewers, KSL TV will cancel the airing of the NBC show “Hannibal” on Thursday evenings.
This decision was made due to the extensive graphic nature of this show. The time slot will be replaced with a special edition of KSL 5 News at 9 p.m.
NBC remains a valued partner to KSL TV. KSL is confident that with the proliferation of digital media, those who wish to view the program can easily do so.
This isn't the first time KSL TV has taken issue with NBC's programming. Last year, the station announced it would not be airing Ryan Murphy's "The New Normal."
"For our brand, this program simply feels inappropriate on several dimensions, especially during family viewing time," Jeff Simpson, CEO of KSL's parent company, Bonneville International, said in a statement. "The dialogue is excessively rude and crude; the scenes are too explicit and the stereotypes are offensive on all sides."
Additionally, Episode 4 of "Hannibal" was pulled from the air in light of the events in Boston earlier this month. Although it was unrelated to the bombings, Fuller told NBC that he thought it was best to keep the episodes off the air "to be sensitive to where we are as a nation."
"Hannibal" airs on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
